First appearing inThe Wind Wakeras a seafaring merchant, Beedle has since become a recurring character in theZeldaseries. True to his name, Beedle is a bug enthusiast and collector who also sells various wares such as arrows and potions to Link throughout his journeys. InPhantom Hourglass, Beedle sometimes dons a helmet and goes by the alter ego “Beedle’s Assistant” to fool unsuspecting foes. InSkyward Sword, Beedle’s shop is also an airship that he pilots via a mechanism similar to a bicycle. His appearances inBreath of the WildandTears of the Kingdomare comparatively straightforward, asBeedle can be found wandering around Hyrule’s stablesand inns.
Although recurring characters such asGanondorf have been brought to life via cosplay, oneZeldafan saw a real-life version of the series' wandering merchant for themselves. A Reddit user named CptRavioLi69 shared a picture on the r/TOTK subreddit that they took of a Beedle cosplayer. The Beedle cosplay was modeled after the character’s appearances inBreath of the WildandTears of the Kingdom. The cosplayer wore a white shirt with a beetle print, a red sash and scarf, and denim shorts. The cosplayer also carried a large felt knapsack that looked similar to the bag Beedle had in the games, with a stag beetle horn motif and a canopy made with PVC pipes and cloth for shade. The Beedle cosplayer also attached some signs to the “shop counter” that Beedle can pull down and push up from his bag’s canopy.

The Beedle cosplayer had a rock on the counter, either as a counterweight or as a reference tothe items sold by the merchant himself in theZeldaseries. According to CptRavioLi69, they were at a Renaissance Faire in Bristol, Wisconsin, which is located close to both Lake Michigan and the Wisconsin-Illinois state border. Although the Beedle cosplayer was said to be friendly, CptRavioLi69 said they did not get the cosplayer’s contact information.
Zeldafans praised both CptRavioLi69 for their photography and the Beedle cosplayer for their attention to detail. Althoughsome characters like Dampe are returningin the upcomingEchoes of Wisdom, only time will tell when Beedle will make his next appearance.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the sequel to the beloved open-world adventure, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This installment once again sees Link and Zelda battling to protect Hyrule from falling to Ganondorf. This new adventure takes place in the same land of Hyrule as Breath of the Wild but sees something called the Upheaval, which allows link to travel to Sky Islands, as well as deep into the Depths beneath Hyrule. Players can use special abilities to fuse together weapons, and build items to help them progress through the release.
