Summary

According to multiple developers,World of Warcraftis planning more exciting events next year, likely including the return ofWoW Remix. Fans of recent limited-timeWorld of Warcraftevents like Plunderstorm and Remix can look forward to similar experiments in the future.

World of Warcraftbegan a game-changing experiment calledWoW Remix: Mists of Pandariaon May 16 of this year. This throwback event allowed fans to power throughMists of Pandariawith overpowered characters to experience the story, unlock achievements, and even earn rareWorld of Warcraftcosmetics like the Tusks of Mannoroth. While the event’s popularity made it seem likeWoW Remix’s return was inevitable, multipleWorld of Warcraftdevelopers have all but confirmed that is the case. At Gamescom,WoWcontent creators Taliesin & Evitel spoke with game director Ion Hazzikostas about several topics, including the limited time experiments like Remix. “It’s probably no secret that Remix in some form is likely to return,” he said near the 20:30 mark in the interview, “but we haven’t just said ‘We’ve done Plunderstorm, we’ve done Remix, we’re done, let’s keep recycling those.’ We want to keep exploring new experiments, new ways to experienceWorld of Warcraft.” While not set in stone, fans can safely expectnew Remix events inWorld of Warcraft, alongside other experimental events.

World of Warcraft Remix is ‘Likely to Return’

Hazzikostas wasn’t the only developer to say this. During aninterview with Wowhead before the launch ofWoW: The War Within,World of Warcraftproduction director Michael Bybee saidWoW Remixwas designed to be a recurring event. “The initial intent withMoP Remixwas that this is something like Timewalking that will come back on a regular basis,” he said in an attempt to assuage the fears of players who might not have collected all the cosmetics from the event. Between Hazzikostas and Bybee’s words, it seems likely thatWoWwill not only Remix new expansions in the future, but rerun previous events as well.

Like it did last year,World of Warcrafthas already confirmed a roadmap for 2025 will be coming in the next few months. Hazzikostas warned that not all the Plunderstorm and Remix-like events will be spelled out explicitly on the diagram, but he teased “question marks on the roadmap, and mysteries to be explored,” likeWorld of Warcraftdid with the secrets on the 2024 version, so fans can look forward to some exciting stuff next year.

That said, the rest ofWorld of Warcraftin 2024 is loosely planned out already. Thefinal campaign chapter forWoW: The War Withinjust went live, and the raid and its subsequent epilogue will become available on September 10. Patch 10.0.5 will probably arrive some time in late October or early November, with the next update expected in early 2025.World of Warcraftroadmaps have historically been revealed in late December, so players will probably see the same at the end of this year.
