Summary
When Dracthyr Priests are made available inWorld of Warcraft, they will have special wing visual effects when using abilities like Dark Ascension, Apotheosis, and Ultimate Penitence. These unique particle effects will be added as a part of the Dracthyr class update inWorld of WarcraftPatch 11.0.5.
Dracthyr was the new race added inDragonflightthat could originally only choose the draconic Evoker class. Recently,World of Warcraftconfirmed Patch 11.0.5 would expand class options for Dracthyrto include Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Mage, Warrior, and Warlock, all of which are currently available to try out on the Public Test Realm.
However, while testing out these new class combinations, fans noticed an interesting detail about Dracthyr Priests. While using Dark Ascension, Apotheosis, or Ultimate Penitence in their draconic forms, Dracthyr get an awesome visual effect that causes the membrane between their wings to scintillate with light or dark energy. This visual persists for the entirety of the ability’s effect – even while using their wings to Soar through the air with Skyriding.Wowhead shared footage of these visual effectsfor players interested in seeing them in action.
Unique Dracthyr Priest Effects in WoW: The War Within
On otherPriests inWorld of Warcraft, each of these abilities conjures a pair of wings on their back. For Dracthyr in their draconic form, doing so would not have been feasible, as the spell effects would have clipped into their own wings. The end result is a truly unique spell effect cool enough to inspire some players to roll a Dracthyr Priest when they otherwise might not have.
At the moment, theWorld of Warcraftpatch this Dracthyr class update is a part of does not have a release date. That said, the calendar on the PTR has theWorld of Warcraft20th anniversary eventbeginning on October 23. Considering the event is one of the major parts of the update, Patch 11.0.5 itself may arrive on October 22 – eight weeks afterThe War Within’s full launch, and exactly in time withWoW’s swift release cadence fromDragonflight.
The20-year anniversary celebration forWorld of Warcraftis going to be its biggest in-game event yet. The massive event adds a new raid version of Blackrock Depths, tons of world bosses, aClassicTimewalking event, and a bunch of collectibles players can earn through various in-game objectives. Fans can participate in some of these activities by level 10, and all of them by level 15, so players hoping to level their new Dracthyr Priests will have the perfect chance to do so.
