A new expansion means more to find and build, and inWorld of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic, the crafters of Warcraft have as much to discover as the raiders and PvPers. Minersexploring the new zoneshave found a useful material calledObsidium, an essential ingredient in several high-level recipes for Blacksmiths, an Engineering component, and a rich prospecting item for Jewelcrafters.
The best way to find Obsidium is to be a Miner of a certain level, so visit the local Mining trainer and earn Illustrious Grand Master, which is the maximum skill level inCataclysm. For those who have some to spare, it’s not soulbound, so it’s possible to stack it in the guild bank or sell it in the Auction House.
Why Is Obsidium Useful In Cataclysm Classic?
A Max-Level Crafting Item
Along with two other important materials (Elementium and Pyrite), Obsidium was one of the additional crafting materials added in Cataclysm forlevels 425 and higher. Blacksmiths and Jewelcrafters use it the most, and it’s an important component in several Engineering schematics.
Players who are Miners can refine the ore they retrieve intoObsidium Bars, an ability related to the Smelting skill. It’s the basis ofseveral other more complex recipesonce in this refined state.
Blacksmithing
Most of the Illustrious Grand Master Blacksmithing recipesrequire either Obsidium Bars or Folded Obsidium. These items are some of the most useful for both leveling and endgame content.
