The plot ofWolfssees the Manhattan District Attorney, Margaret (Amy Ryan), panicking after a young man (Austin Abrams) in her hotel room ends up dead. She calls a number that was given to her by a trusted source in case of an emergency, and secures the services of an unnamed professional fixer (George Clooney). He arrives at the hotel to dispose of the man. Turns out, Margaret met him at the hotel bar and invited him to her room to fool around. Unfortunately, he fell through a glass table while jumping on the bed after being high on drugs.Events take a shocking twist when another unnamed fixer (Brad Pitt) turns up. He’s been hired by the hotel’s mysterious owner, Pam, who witnessed the events via hidden cameras.
Pam is keen to protect the hotel’s reputation and Margaret’s career, so the women urge the two fixers to work together despite their reluctance. Margaret points out to her man that he appears on the surveillance footage, and also reminds him of the promise he made to her when taking the job.
You take a job, you give your word, and that word is the measure of a man.
The fixers join forces, and provide Margaret with a change of clothes and an alibi, and she leaves the hotel. Things get more complicated when the two fixers find a large stash of drugs in the kid’s bag. Pam tells them they must return them to their rightful owner to avoid any backlash. The men move the body to one of their cars using a luggage cart and take the drugs with them. However, the fixers get a shock when they discover the kid is still alive. They knock him out, shut the trunk and transport him to an underground medical specialist called June (Poorna Jagannathan), but in ashocking plot twist, the kid escapes, and it leads to a tense cat and mouse chase around the city.
They catch up to him and sober him up with pills provided by June, and interrogate him about his involvement in obtaining the drugs, which they believe could be linked to the Albanian mob.He explains that he agreed to deliver the drugs as a favor to his friend Diego, but when he was invited to Margaret’s room, he decided to give the drugs a try. They head to a club where Diego’s pager is located, in order to obtain the delivery location for the drugs. The kid grabs the pager from behind the bar, but the fixers are recognized by a Croatian mobster called Dimitri (Zlatko Buric). They convince him that they are not working together and depart the location.
How does Wolfs End?
The fixers figure out that the drug kingpin (who is Diego’s employer) probably stole the Albanians' shipment and the Kid is being set up to take the fall. They agree to let the kid make the delivery, despite fearing he may be killed, and head to the location. The kid enters the warehouse, and it is ambushed by a bunch of Albanians.
The fixers are then ambushed by Dimitri’s bodyguards, but they shoot their attackers dead and make their way inside, where Diego’s boss’s henchmen and the Albanians have killed each other. However, the Kid has survived after hiding inside a car trunk. The fixers prepare to kill him to hide their involvement in it, but they have a change of heart and let him live. They accompany the kid home via the subway, and threaten his father (Richard Kind) to keep quiet about the whole thing.
Clooney And Pitt Also Worked On Two More Movies Together
The fixers decide to decompress with breakfast at a diner in Brighton Beach, after bonding over the whole incident. They begin to discuss what has happened, and Margaret’s man asks Pam’s man how she convinced the other fixer to work with him, and he says that he was told:
After realizing they are employed by the same person, they go back through the night’s events and conclude that their employer orchestrated the whole thing, and they were meant to be eliminated. They look out the window to see a bunch of hitmen waiting for them. They duck down, and agree to exchange names if they survive the outcome of the impending shootout, and with guns at the ready, they open fire.
Is There a Mid-Credits Scene?
Yes, there is a mid-credits scene inWolfswhich shows the camera footage of the events described by Margaretin the hotel room which led to the kid’s accident. Due to the craziness of the night, the fixers never dealt with the camera footage. This mid-credits scene could suggest someone has taken the footage and plans to use it. It could ruin Margaret’s career while also exposing the two fixers' identities if the footage ever got out. It has been confirmed that aWolfs sequel is in the works, so this scene could be a set-up for that.
