Farming tools aren’t handed to you at the start ofFields of Mistria. You’ll start out with the hoe and the watering can, and by Spring 2, you’ll receive the axe. you may buy stronger tools around Mistria, but you can also forge them. With eight types of tools inFields of Mistria, you’ll want to know which ones to upgrade first. What you prioritize will also depend on your gameplay. If you’re someone who prefers to farm and forage, then you may want to get a stronger watering can before you get the better pickaxe.
Where to Buy Stronger Tools
Blacksmith Shop
On Spring 1, you’ll receive the hoe and watering can from Celine and Hayden respectively. On Spring 2, you’ll find Eiland on your farm trying to cut down a tree blocking a dragon statue. After this short cutscene, you’ll obtain the Worn Axe. Also on Spring 2, you can accept a request called “Do a Bro a Favor” to get a Worn Pickaxe. If you want a Worn Shovel or Worn Fishing Rod, you’ll have to buy them from the General Store (Mistria) and Tackle Shop (Beach) respectively.
You can obtain up to Silver Equipment in Early Access (August 2024).Fields of Mistriaalso has Gold Ore and Mistril Ore, but these haveonly been found via dataminingand are currently unavailable. Tool upgrades can cover more than one tile when used by holding down the action key/left mouse button. The types of equipment you can currently get are:

Where to Farm Ore
Look in the Mines
During Spring, you’ll unlock the Blacksmithing mechanic. This allows you to create ingots, tools, and weapons/armor. However, you’ll need ore before you may start making anything. You can buy ore at the Blacksmith Store. Copper Ore costs 50 Tesserae, Iron Ore costs 70 Tesserae, and Silver Ore costs 100 Tesserae. However, if you want to get ore for free, you’ll want to tackle the mines.
you may’t get into the mines until you reach Stone Rank. In Early Access,Mistria’s minesonly go down to Floor 60. You can farm copper, iron, and silver ore from the following floors:
If you use the dragon statue on the top floor of the mines, you can unlock perks (Mining Tier 2/3) that ensure you get an extra piece of ore when you break open a Node.

To craft tools, you have to use the anvil outside the Blacksmith. Crafting will take in-game time, but you’re able to decrease this by spending Essence at Caldarus’s statue for the Blacksmithing perks. While you have access to every tool upgrade once you unlock Blacksmithing, you won’t be able to craft them unless you have all materials, and you meet the level requirements:
You don’t need to upgrade the “lower tier” tool before you can upgrade to silver. For example, if you want the Silver Watering Can, but only have the Worn Watering Can, all you need is x4 Silver Ingot and Blacksmithing lvl 16. You don’t have to craft the Bronze or Iron Watering Can first.

Which Tools to Upgrade?
Which Ones Should You Not?
You shouldprioritizethepickaxeand thewatering can. When you’re first starting out, your crops are going to be your main source of income. The Copper Watering Can will water up to three tiles, thus shortening the amount of time you need to water each plant.The pickaxe will be important once you unlock the mines. You may not need a Copper Pickaxe on the first handful of floors, but when you break the Water Seal, you’ll want to have a stronger tool. The mines are ideal for farming ore to upgrade tools, making the pickaxe a very worthwhile tool to upgrade.
Next, you’ll want to get a strongerswordand a betteraxe. Monsters in the mines get tougher on lower floors, so having a stronger sword will make quicker work of them. The axe should be upgraded since hacking away at trees takes out a lot of stamina. You’ll need a lot of wood for story quests and raising your Woodcrafting Skill.
You don’t want to upgrade the bug net tool. The description for the Copper/Iron/Silver Bug Net indicates the only difference between an upgraded Bug Net and the Worn Bug Net, is its appearance. Unless you want a better-looking bug net, you should probably pass on this one. You may also want to refrain from creatingarmor, or at least the Copper Armor. You’ll loot plenty of chests while exploring the mines, some of which drop pieces of armor that are stronger than the ones you’re able to currently make.If you want to raise your defense, then save up your Silver Ore for the Silver Armor pieces.
