The latest roadmap forThe Sims 4has been released, and it maps out all the content Simmers can expect for the rest of 2024. The theme forThe Sims 4from September to December 2024 is “To Be Continued”, a tantalizing phrase that’s made all the more mysterious by the imagery of the tarot cards that accompanied the announcement.
Two of the most successful content add-ons inThe Sims 4,The Sims 4: Spooky StuffandThe Sims 4: Paranormal Stuff, were themed around the occult and Halloween, and so the new roadmap’s theme is a welcome continuation of those classics. The announcement of a new expansion pack with atheme that should enrich both life and death inThe Sims 4was also news that was positively received. In addition to the news of a new expansion pack, two more kits were announced, along with a new reward event and free updates.
Some Smaller Content Add-Ons are On The Way For The Sims 4
The first in the lineup to be released are two kits: theStorybook Nursery Kitand theArtist Studio Kit. TheStorybook Nursery Kitis particularly exciting as it’s the first content outsideThe Sims 4: Growing Togetherthat includes content for infants, and will likely include Build and Buy items for creating the perfect nursery to nurture imaginative infants. The theme of imagination continues beyond infancy with theArtist Studio Kit, which should add some much-needed items for the artist skill. Both of these kits will be released on September 19.
Next up is the Reaper’s Rewards Event, which follows on from the first Login Reward Event. Rather than claiming rewards by logging in every day, it appears that Sims will have toassist the Grim Reaper on various tasksduring the week, much like the small assignments inThe Sims 4: Cottage Living, and claim prizes by successfully completing the tasks. The Reaper’s Rewards Event will begin on September 24, and no add-on content is necessary to participate.
A Brand New Expansion Pack For The Sims 4 is Releasing This Halloween
Thebiggest piece of news inThe Sims 4’s “To Be Continued” roadmapis the announcement of the next expansion pack,The Sims 4: Life and Death. The roadmap hasn’t confirmed whatThe Sims 4: Life and Deathwill include, but it does promise a first look on October 3, which will likely be a reveal trailer, with a more in-depth gameplay trailer likely to come later in the month. The expansion pack will also likely heavily feature the Grim Reaper, as he’s a popular NPC inThe Sims 4, and he features on the tarot card that announces the expansion pack. The Sims 4: Life and Deathwill launch on October 31, just in time for Halloween.
The final announcement for the “To Be Continued” roadmap includes free updates. The free updates don’t have a release date yet, and what exactly they’ll contain is still a mystery. As the tarot card revealing them is The World, with glimpses of Komorebi, Sulani, Forgotten Hollow, and Strangerville in the tarot card, it may be possible that the upcoming updates involve a world refresh in some way. An update to the worlds would be welcome, especially ifThe Sims 4: Life and Deathintroduces some new gameplay mechanics that needs to be universally applied.
Previous free updates forThe Sims 4have been as small as new swatches for one item of clothing in Create-a-Sim, or as big as adding new life stages to the base game for everyone to access. It’s entirely possible that the free updates will be minor changes toThe Sims 4worlds, or they could feature major overhauls in several areas of gameplay. More will likely be revealed as the season continues.
