Mojang Studios accidentally leaked details ofMinecraft’s next update on the game’s official website. Though the standard bug fixes and other affairs were announced in the leak, it seems that players can expect a new biome and hostile mob inMinecraft.
Spoilers for the next Minecraft update ahead
The now-deleted web pageboasted of a newMinecraftbiomecalled the Pale Garden which will feature a new hostile mob called The Creaking. Mojang has not confirmed whether this new biome will be part of the Overworld, the Nether, or in The End. However, the new biome will be introduced in an update titled “Bundles and Bravery”, which has led to rampant speculation.
What Minecraft’s Leaked Biome and Mob Could Be
The New Minecraft Biome
“Bundles and Bravery” may make players think of a horrific Halloween update, but it would be remiss to forget that there are cozy aspects of Halloween as well. Pale Garden could take hints fromexisting floral OverworldMinecraftbiomeslike the meadow, cherry grove, and the dark and flower forests while adding some creepier elements. The lush cave biome seems like an existing combination of these elements thatMinecraftcould take further inspiration from. By creating a gothic garden, Mojang could elude dramatic parts of Halloween while still adding something new to the vast collection of biomes the game already has.
If thenew biome is part of the Nether, it’s possible that Mojang will be inspired by the crimson and warped forests, adding yet another whimsical biome to the nether that feels more peaceful than the danger of the Nether wastes, while still maintaining the hostile mobs it is home to. Including Pale Garden as a new biome to The End would be the most surprising move, as the name isn’t reminiscent of any existing biomes in the dimension. All biomes in The End include the word “End” in their name, such as Small End Islands and the End Midlands.
The New Minecraft Mob
Minecraftalready hosts a wide range of mobsin-game that could be considered classic Halloween monsters, like zombies, spiders, skeletons, and witches. Considering the names of the update and mob, there are a few aspects of traditional scares that Mojang could pull from.
The name Pale Garden suggests that this will be a botanical biome of some kind. However, the description of “pale” hints at something more sinister for the leaked “Creaking” mob. An expansion from ghasts into ghosts could reflect the first half of the biome’s name. The introduction of Breezesin 2023, a hostile mob occasionally spawned in trial chambers by specific trail spawners, was a mob that could be similar to the addition of ghosts in the game. With the power to push players around and throw them in the air, Breezes have many features that one would consider when coming up with a ghost mob. Considering Breezes were introduced into the game a year ago, a new ghost-like mob could be unlikely, but nevertheless welcome.
With that in mind, the creaking could take cues from the supposed environment of the biome, and take the form of a nymph, dryad, or even a version of an Ent, a tree creature originally made by J. R. R. Tolkien. Fans will just have to wait forMinecraftLive 2024 for further updates tosee if their hopes forMinecraftbiomescome true.
