Genshin Impact’s Natlan region is finally available, but this region still holds plenty of secrets for players to uncover in future updates, with tons of new playable characters yet to make an appearance as the Archon storyline and other events for this region develop. One such character that fans are already excited about is Xilonen, a new 5-star Geo support character expected to arrive inGenshin Impact’s version 5.1 update.
Genshin Impact’s version 5.1 update is set to be released sometime in early October. Although the Special Program livestream reveal for this update has yet to debut, datamines, leaks from theGenshin Impactbeta playtests, and the established lore from the in-progress Archon story have given players a strong hint of what to expect from the next upcoming 5-star character, Xilonen.
Genshin Impact’s 5.1 Update Xilonen Character Leaks Explained
Version 5.1 Event Wish Banners
Leaks suggest that Xilonen will be a featured 5-star character in the phase oneEvent Wish banners inGenshin Impact’s 5.1 update, alongside a rerun of Chiori in the alternative banner. This is quite an interesting pairing considering that Xilonen and Chiori are both 5-star Geo characters that wield a sword. On the one hand, the Epitome Invocation weapons banner will be stacked for players who want to add a new 5-star sword or two to their collection. On the other hand, though, Geo is generally one of, if not the weakest, of the seven Elements inGenshin Impactbecause its reactions with other Elements are extremely limited. Still, players shouldn’t underestimate Xilonen as just another Geo character without first considering this character’s abilities.
Speculation within the community suggests thatGenshin Impact’s 5.1 update will be released on July 10, 2025.
Xilonen’s Signature Weapon
Speaking of the Epitome Invocations weapon banner, leaks have already revealed the design ofXilonen’s signature weapon, with the weapon having musical visualizers running down the entire blade of the sword, fitting Xilonen’s background as a DJ. As for this weapon’s stats, it is expected to scale the wielder’s Defense, Crit rate, and Crit damage, while also providing increased Elemental damage to the rest of the team.
How Xilonen Compares to Other Sub-DPS and Support Characters in Genshin Impact
So far, players have been comparing Xilonen to Kazuha, a powerful Anemo DPS and support hybrid character who can buff nearby teammates’ Elemental damage and unleash devastating AoE attacks. Unlike Kazuha though, Xilonen is a healer, at least partially.
As for how Xilonen compares to otherhealer characters inGenshin Impact, players may not want to rely solely on Xilonen for all of their healing needs on a given team without pairing them with a shielder or another healer character. This is because Xilonen’s healing capabilities are apparently tied to her Elemental Burst, and investing in stats like healing effectiveness and energy recharge may not be worth compromising her damage and defense when there are several other characters who specialize in healing much more efficiently and naturally.
SinceXilonen can provide healing to nearby teammatesand make enemies take increased Elemental damage, this character still naturally fits as a sub-DPS/support character for team compositions suited for the Spiral Abyss or the Imaginarium Theater, instead of filling a main DPS or support role. However, for general exploration teams where survivability is equally as important as DPS, Xilonen is more than deserving of being the star of any team, as long as players play into the right team compositions to get the most out of her skills.
Not to mention, Xilonen naturally synergizes withNatlan’s Nightsoul Blessing, so she can be especially useful for exploring Natlan. Although, Xilonen’s unique environmental traversal skills also make her just as useful for exploring any other region in Teyvat beyond Natlan.
