As the king of the live-service world,Fortnitelives and dies on its updates and its big events. The changing of a chapter is the biggest event inFortnite’s annual schedule, encouraging players across the world to tune in live to see a tease of what’s next. Then there’s the start of a new season, which offers a similar rush of anticipation and excitement. And then there are events themed around holidays, which bring new quests, map changes, and exclusive cosmetic rewards. Fortnitemares is one such event.
One of the biggest Halloween celebrations in gaming,Fortnite’s Fortnitemares event has been running annually since the game’s launch in 2017. Each year, Fortnitemares has only gotten bigger and better, with more exclusive rewards, quests, and themed weapon drops.Last year’s Fortnitemares eventaddedHalloween’s Michael Myers, Alan Wake, andNightmare Before Christmas' Jack Skellington, which means that Epic Games has a high bar to clear this year. While nothing official has been confirmed aboutFortnite’s 2024 Fortnitemares event so far, there are plenty of rumors and leaks that might suggest some of the event’s contents.
Everything Rumored To Appear in Fortnite’s 2024 Fortnitemares Event
Fortnite’s Rumored Saw Crossover
One of the most prevalent rumors surroundingFortnite’s 2024 Fortnitemares event is that it’ll feature a crossover with the horror movie franchiseSaw. Back at the start ofFortnite’s current Absolute Doom Season, eagle-eyed players noticed a retro TV hiding in the corner of the Doom Castle attic. On September 17, leaker Xgamer360 took to Twitter to show off some code they’d found in the game’s files. This code led to images ofSaw’s Billy the Puppet, linked to a file named “T_Appliance_RetroTVScreen_A_Flipbook.”
Just a day after this leak made the rounds online, the retro TV in Castle Doom’s attic switched on for the first time, displaying static. It’s now widely believed that this TV screen will switch to an image ofSaw’s Billy the Puppetin the coming weeks, teasing aSawcollaboration for the upcoming Fortnitemares event. It’s unclear what this collab would entail, but a skin of Billy or, more likely, of Amanda Young in the iconic pig mask would work well.
Fortnite’s Rumored Friday the 13th Crossover
Before therumors ofFortnite’sSawcollaborationgained traction, the prevailing theory for this year’s Fortnitemares event was thatFriday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees would be coming to the game. There isn’t much evidence to suggest this would be the case, but it is still a possibility that’s worth mentioning here.
Disney Villains Could Be Coming to Fortnite on Halloween
DuringtheFortnitepanel at the recent D23 Expo, it was confirmed that several iconic Disney villains will be coming to the battle royale. These villains arePeter Pan’s Captain Hook,Sleeping Beauty’s Maleficent, and101Dalmatians’Cruella de Vil. Only the vague release window of Fall 2024 was given for these Disney villains, and many have theorized that they’ll be added to the game during this year’s Fortnitemares event.
There’s no official word on Fortnitemares 2024’s start date, but it usually lands in mid-October. Recent leaks from Hypex suggest it could start on October 15.
Fortnitemares 2024 Could Bring New Quests and Map Changes
While collaboration skins are great,Fortnite’s Fortnitemares event usually involves a lot more than that. As well as adding original spooky skins to the game, Fortnitemares changes some map POIs, adds some Halloween-themed weapons and items to the Battle Royale mode, and adds some themed quests that often grant the player an exclusive skin.
Fortnite’s 2024 Fortnitemares eventwill likely be no different. Fans can expect some changes to this season’s Marvel-themed map, giving some areas a spooky makeover with new pieces of set dressing and different lighting. Fans can also expect to see some classic Fortnitemares weapons make a return, such as the Pumpkin Launcher and potentially the Wood Stake Shotgun.
