Dead Rising Deluxe Remasterhas dozens of survivors for Frank to find during his time in the mall. Depending on how youchoose to play the game, finding survivors will be a common task Otis will call Frank about.

While survivors aren’t necessary to get different endings, they can be useful companions that can make surviving in the mall a bit easier, even if they are just shields protecting Frank. Here’s everything you can do with survivors to get the most out of rescuing them.

Finding & Controlling Survivors

Upon finding and saving a survivor from their current situation, they will join Frank as he explores the mall. Should youget in a car, survivors will take up as many seats as are available. For the most part, survivors will follow Frank, althoughsome personality traits make it more difficult for them to do so,such as The Cowardhiding from zombies and sometimes refusing to run through them. Players are given two commands to help navigate any survivors currently following them:

Both of these commands are done using the command button, which is pressing down on the right joystick for controllers and C on PC. When just pressing the call button, Frank will command all survivors to move towards him. This will be your common command as it will prioritize survivors to run through any zombies to get to you. If you use the call button while aiming, you’ll direct any survivors to go to the location you were aiming and wait there.

Survivors will stay at that spot until commanded to move.

Should you go through a door to another section of the map, you need tomake sure all survivors are very close otherwise they will be left behindin that previous area. Any survivor currently in your group will be on the map so they can be found easily again. Survivors will stay in your party until death or if you hit them enough times be it on purpose or by accident.

Equipping, Healing, & Affinity

By approaching a survivor with any weapon in your hand, you can interact with them to make themdrop their current weapon and use the one that was just in your hands. Should you give them a food item, they willkeep their weapon, take the food, and immediately use it to heal. Any weapons given to a survivor will have infinite durability or ammo.

Survivors have favorite weapons or food that can be given to them to use to increase their affinity. Thehigher their affinity, the more effective they will be at killing zombiesand keeping up with Frank. Overall, a high affinity doesn’t make them much more effective at really helping in combat no matter their weapon, but your true goal should be saving them.

How To Save Survivors

Your main goal with survivors should be getting them back to the Security Room while they are following you. Simplyentering the security room with survivors in your party will have a quick scene play out where they thank Frankand you’ll get a large sum of PP to level up with. Survivors will then stay in the security room until the end of the game but are effectively saved at that point.
