The file size for the remake of Supermassive Games' interactive horror dramaUntil Dawnhas been revealed, coming in at 56.676 GB on PlayStation 5. That file size is nearly 10 GB larger than the original 2015 version ofUntil Dawnon PlayStation 4, showing just how much larger the game has grown in one console generation.

While rumors had persisted in the months prior to its reveal, developer Ballistic Moonconfirmed theUntil Dawnremakein May, announcing it for PlayStation 5 and PC. Planned for release on October 4, the survival horror game is set to feature big upgrades to lighting, models, and textures thanks to its development in Unreal Engine 5.

A new report from PlayStation Game Size announced the bulkier file size on September 27, as well as making a point of how much larger it is than the original PlayStation 4 iteration. The game’s Steam page lists 70 GB of free space on an SSD under both itsrecommended and minimum requirement sections for theUntil Dawnremakeon PC, so players may need to clear a little extra room for it.

Until Dawn’s Remake Will Be Much Bigger Than the Original

In addition to the upgraded visual effects, there will be plenty more to set Ballistic Moon’s version of the game apart from Supermassive’s. The remake promisesmoreUntil Dawncontent on the way, featuring an expanded story, a larger world with more locations to explore, and additional collectibles to find, which probably makes up part of that extra 10 GB of data. Additionally, the game will have an entirely new musical score by Mark Corven, who has also composed the scores for horror films such as 2024’sThe First Omenand 2019’sThe Lighthouse.

While it’s not involved in the development of the remake, Supermassive has taken a lot of steps to perfect its narrative-focused, investigation-style horror gameplay sinceUntil Dawn’s original launch.The Dark Pictures AnthologySeason One consisted of four games that ran from 2019 to 2022, all using the same gameplay style asUntil Dawnbut with varying types of stories, from a house fire survivor’s struggle with delusions over his dead family members to a film crew being trapped in a murder hotel with a serial killer.
