UFO 50: Barbuta Walkthrough

Get Umbrella

Players should begin by going right, making sure to jump over the first tile to the right, which causes a portion of the ceiling to fall when stepped upon. In the next room, fans ofpixel graphicsshould climb the first ladder, descend the second ladder, go left to reach the edge of the platform, and jump to the left. Players should now descend two ladders and go left at the bottom of the second to enter an area with pools of poison liquid.

Players will encounter dripping green poison as they pass through this area, and they should initially time their movement so that they do not come in contact with that substance. This avoidance is not required after collecting the Umbrella.

ufo 50 barbuta walkthrough

There is a fake wall at the top of the ladder on the left side of this first poison room, and players should pass through it. Beyond the wall, fans will find a corridor with a chest at its end, which produces the Umbrella when struck with the sword.

Get Necklace

After collecting the Umbrella, players should return to the previous room, collect 50 Cash from the chest near the top, and use the nearby ladder to exit the room through the floor. Fans should then descend through the room with two bats (ignoring the chest along the left wall) to reach a room with two fish and a chest. This chest holds 100 Cash, and players should collect it before exiting the room to the left.

In the next room, players should make their way to the ladder that ascends through the ceiling and climb it. Fans ofretro gamesmust then climb to the top of a two-fish room, jump into the green liquid on the far right, and pass through the fake wall on the right side. Players will now have access to the chest that they ignored in the two-bats room, and it holds a Necklace.

The green liquid into which players must jump is not moving, making it different from all the other pools in the game. This difference is what indicates the safety of the pool.

Get Pin

Players should now go one screen down and one screen left to return to the room that is just below the room with the safe liquid. This time around, fans should exit the room on the left and climb ladders until they reach a door. After passing through that door, players should collect 100 Cash from the chest on the left and then use the door on the right side of the room.

Players are now back in the room that they visited before descending toward the poison area, and they should exit to the left to reach the game’s very first room. Fans should cross this room, making sure to jump over the tile that causes the ceiling to fall. Players should then climb the ladders in the room with the planet in the background, and jump on the moving red platform to rise.

This red platform is stationary prior to obtaining the Necklace.

Players should go left at the height of the platform’s rise, make their way across the next screen, and navigate to the ladder in the top-left corner of the screen with the chest. At the top of the ladder, fans should jump to the far right platform, position themselves at its right edge, and jump to the right. Players should now have landed on a small platform, and they should jump from its left edge to reach the aforementioned chest, which holds a Pin.

Get Bat

After collecting the Pin, players should get on top of the moving platform in the room and jump from its left edge. Fans should then go to the left and stand on the single purple block until a ladder and the Bat item appear.

Get Blood Sword

Players should now go two screens to the right to reach a room with two jumping mushrooms. After dispatching those enemies, players should stand on the left side of the blocks that sit atop the light blue platform and hold right. This action will eventually cause the blocks to move to the right.

Players should now go left and descend the ladder to pass through the floor. At the bottom of the ladder, fans should fall through the gap to the right to land on top of a light blue platform. That platform leads to a room with a chest, which holds the Blood Sword, and players can reach it by falling onto the spikes and then climbing the ladders after respawning.

The small gap that is used to fall onto the light blue platform is created by pushing the blocks in the two-mushroom room.

Get 100 Cash

Players should now return to the room in which they landed on the light blue ledge and use the ladder on the left side to descend through the floor. In this next room, fans should defeat the two lizard enemies and the bat. This will cause the green skull in the room to disappear, revealing a gem worth 100 Cash.

The door in this room leads to a vendor who sells Trash for 50 Cash. While it is not recommended that players purchase Trash, as it does not seem to serve any purpose, fans who want to collect every item in the game may want to grab this one now.

Get 50 Cash

Players should now use the ladder at the bottom of the room to descend through the floor. In the next room, players should make their way to the bottom-right corner, strike the bubbles to pop them, and exit to the right. Fans should then re-enter the room with the bubbles, pop the top-right bubble, and use the remaining bubbles to reach a chest that holds 50 Cash.

The Pin that was obtained previously makes popping bubbles possible.

After collecting the Cash, players should exit to the right and climb ladders until they reach a door that they have already used. Fans ofexploration gamesshould pass through that door, use the door on the right side of the next room, and go left until they are back in the planet room with the moving red platform.

Players should now make their way back to the screen where they found the Pin, climb the ladder in the top-left corner, and go left. Players should then ride another moving red platform to reach a screen with a green skull, which will yield a gem worth 100 Cash after the two enemies are defeated.

Get Candy

Players should now ride the platform downward, use the ladder to descend through the floor, and pass through the door that they encounter. There is a vendor beyond that door, and players should buy their Candy for 100 Cash.

Candy increases climbing speed.

Players should now use the door on the same level as the vendor, pass through another door on their right, and use one final door in a room with an NPC and a spike floor. Fans should now exit to the left, descend the ladder to reach four bubbles, pop those bubbles, and fall. After falling, players should go left to access a chest that holds 100 Cash.

Make a Choice

Players must now decide how they want to go about reaching the game’s final boss, and there are three options available to them. Those options are the “switch path,” the “lock path,” and the “hammer path,” and they are detailed in the following three sections.

As previously mentioned,Barbuta’sCherry is awarded to players who beat the game with all six Eggs (life). Fans who want to earn the Cherry are thus advised to pursue either the “switch path” or “lock path,” as those options leave players with Cash that they can use to refill their Eggs before fighting the final boss. By contrast, fans will be forced to spend a large amount of Cash (500) to follow the “hammer path.”

Barbuta: Switch Path

Players who want to pursue the switch path should go right until they reach a room with a large green knight. There is an invisible ladder in this room, which players can climb by standing on the fifth block from the entrance and holding up. There is a chest with 50 Cash at the top of the invisible ladder, and players can collect it before descending the ladder on the right.

Players can see the top of the invisible ladder when following the path after purchasing the Candy. It is intended that fans use this glimpse of the top to determine the existince and position of the invisible ladder.

Players will now find themselves on the platforms on the right side of the room with the green knight, and they should exit to the right. Fans should then hit the switch that they encounter, jump off the ledge, and pass through a gap in the floor that they have just created.

Players are now in a room with a chest that is actually an enemy. After defeating that disguised foe, fans should exit to the right, pass through the door that they encounter, and climb a series of ladders to reach yet another door.

In the room beyond that door, players should exit to the right, walk to the edge of the ledge, and jump. Fans should then continue to the right to reach a room with a purple egg, which can replenish their Eggs at a rate of 100 Cash per Egg.

After a player replenishes their life, they should climb up the ladder and jump toward the spike floor. This action will reveal that there is an invisible platform atop the spikes, which players can use to reach the ladder that leads directly to the final boss.

To defeat the boss, players should simply avoid its projectiles and hit it with their Blood Sword when it drops to the ground. The Bat that they obtained during their playthrough will take care of the ghosts that appear during the fight.

Barbuta: Lock Path

Players who want to pursue the lock path should descend the ladder next to the chest from which they collected 100 Cash. Fans will now be in a room with two large green knights, and they should avoid those enemies as they make their way to the bottom-right corner.

From this position, players should go right to enter the “BA” room. This room serves as one half of a puzzle that ultimately yields a key that players will use to open a lock. To solve this puzzle, players must determine the specific path that could be used to navigate from the top of the “BA” room to the bottom, and that path is shown in the preceding image.

Players must now make their way to the “AB” room, which is accessed by descending a ladder in the planet room with the moving red platform. While there are several ways to reach that room, fans who are unclear about its location can simply follow the route depicted in the preceding images.

In the “AB” room, players must replicate the path that they determined when visiting the “BA” room. However, the rooms are mirrored, and the path must thus be mirrored as well. The image that is above shows that mirrored path, and an opening will appear in the bottom-right corner of the room after a player has followed it.

Beyond that opening, players will find a chest with a Key. After collecting that item, fans should climb back to the top of the “AB” room, ride the red platform in the planet room, and go right at the top. Players must then use a series of moving platforms to cross a spike room, open the lock, and climb the ladder in the next room.

Players are now in a room with a purple egg, which can replenish their Eggs at a rate of 100 Cash per Egg. After replenishing their life, players should climb up the nearby ladder and jump toward the spike floor. This action will reveal that there is an invisible platform atop the spikes, which fans can use to reach the ladder that leads directly to the final boss.

Barbuta: Hammer Path

Players who did not purchase the Trash should now have 500 Cash, which is exactly the amount that is required to pursue the hammer path. For those fans that do have the requisite 500 Cash, here are the steps to take:

Players are now in a room with a purple egg, and they should climb up the nearby ladder and jump toward the spike floor. This action will reveal that there is an invisible platform atop the spikes, which fans can use to reach the ladder that leads directly to the final boss.

If a player purchased the Trash item, and they are now at 450 Cash, they can still pursue the hammer path. Indeed, there is more money to be found inBarbuta, and there is actually 50 Cash nearby. For those players who are at 450 Cash, here are the steps that they should take:

Barbuta: Additional Items and Secrets

There are a few items and secrets that are not detailed at all in the preceding walkthrough, and they are as follows:

Wand

Players can trade their Sword to an NPC in order to obtain a Wand, though that weapon is not as strong against the final boss as the Blood Sword. That said, if a player want to try out the Wand, they can obtain it by following these steps:

Secret Path #1

There is a secret path in the top-right corner of the planet room. To reach it, players should take these actions:

Secret Path #2

There is a secret path one screen right and one screen down from the game’s starting room. It is in the top-left corner of the room, and it is revealed by repeatedly striking the cracked blocks with the sword.
