Zahard And The Twelve Great Warriors

The First Set Of Irregulars

Not much is known about the history of the Tower, except that at some point, Zahard and Twelve Great Warriors suddenly appeared in its lower levels. They were not invited into the Tower by Headon and are the first set of Irregulars to be recorded in the story, although they are not considered as such anymore due to the status they have attained. With the help of Grace Mirchea Luslec, Quadrado, and Amizu, they climbed the Towerand reached the 134th Floor, while gaining immense strength along the way.

At the time, the ranking system had not been established so no one knew the true extent of their power, only that their strength fell shy of Administrators. It was at this point that Zahard decided to halt his ascension of the Tower, close off the 135th Floor, and declare himself the “King” of the Tower with the help of Administrators. This prompted two of his companions to oppose him in a Great War, but they were ultimately defeated by the Zahard Empire and the families of the remaining Ten Warriors who stood by his side. As a result, those two companions, Arlene Grace and V,were written out of the history booksand it soon became the consensus that Zahard had only ten companions.

These ten companions and Zahard went on to make a pact with a Guardian in exchange for true immortality, and all of them got a pretty fair trade except Hendo Lok Bloodmadder, who ended up giving up the lifespan of his future generationsto obtain eternal life.

The Ten Great Families And Their Power Dynamics

Their Thirst For Power

Zahard’s ten companions were rewarded with high status in the Tower following the events of the Great War, and they soon began to sire children and create families. These families became part of the Tower’s ruling class and were dubbed the Ten Great Families due to the sheer power and influence they held. Zahard himself was incapable of procreating so every few hundred years, women were chosen from the Ten Great Families and around the Tower to compete forthe title of Zahard’s Princess, gain his blood, and with it, immense power and influence. During Zahard’s inactive years, the Ten Great Families were in charge of the Tower’s activities and assigned as Floor Rulers, but that did not mean they were relative in terms of power. The Khun, Ha, and Arie Families are stronger than the others, but this only applies when the family heads are excluded, as each head is strong enough to balance out the strength of each family. This helps ensure balance within the Great Families and is supposed to prevent the heads from getting any funny ideas because the lust for powerand greed are some of the man’sbiggest flaws.

The Lo Po Bia Family is Zahard’s favorite as they are always ready to extend a helping hand to his Empire no matter their ambitions, which is why their family head was tasked with taking down the Po Bidau Family after they turned their back on Zahard. While the rest of the Great Families are allied with Zahard, they are not mandated to help his Empire and only do so when they see fit.

Baam’s Introduction To The Story Changed The Political Landscape Of The Tower

The Wildcard Of The Story

Since Baam entered the Tower, Po Bidau Gustang has been invested in kickstarting change and chaos. This made him steal Zahard’s Bracelet from the Hidden Floor, essentially declaring war on the ruler of the Tower. It is unclear what his true motive is, but he is not the only family head witha plan for the Irregularwith seemingly enormous potential. Following the Battle of the Nest, the Lo Po Bia Traumerie and King Zahard made it their mission to recruit Baam in their fight against the Bidau Family, as it was said he can become just as strong as a family head with enough training.

This recruitment would see the Lo Po Bia Family overtake the Arie Family as the strongest and most influential family in the Tower as they would have the equivalent of two family heads. However, it should be noted that before then, the Ten Great Families had exploited the bloodyrivalry between Zahard’s princessesto weaken the other families by killing their strongest daughter in the name of competition.
