From the first episode ofTower of God, fans are introduced to Princess Ha Yuri Zahard and the 13 Month Series of weapons, particularly Black March and Green April. These weapons are special and were effectively portrayed as so, as they are only granted to a select few in the story. Apart from beingsome of the strongest weapons in the series, they are also integral to the plot of the story and hold the key to the inaccessible 135th level of the Tower.
They also possess a lot of symbolic importance because they are bestowed by the King of the Tower, Zahard, to the chosen Princesses who earned the right to wield them.
The Thirteen Month Series Were Originally Made For Thirteen Great Individuals
Zahard And His Companions
A long time ago,Zahard and the Twelve Great Warriorsappeared in the Tower and decided to ascend it with the help of a few notable individuals. Along the way, they met a master craftsman Ashul Edwaru whom they tasked with creating thirteen weapons for Zahard and his twelve companions, from resources that Zahard provided himself. However, due to Zahard’s decision to stop their ascension at the 134th level and pronounce himself King of the Tower, he lost two of his companions, V, and Arlen Grace, the love of his life.
They rejected Zahard’s decision to become the ruler of the Tower and faced dire consequences. They were also written out of history, and now Zahard is known to have had only ten companions. Po Bidau Gustangdevised the Zahard Princess system, which made selected women compete against themselves to earn Zahard’s praise with the 13 Months series weapon as a prize.
Whoever collects all thirteen months will become Zahard’s wife and bear his child, but in truth, Zahard has no intentions of marrying any of the Princesses and simply uses them to silence the rumors that he could not bear children. He only accepted Po Bidau Gustang’s idea to ensure the 13 Month Series remained in the possession of his Empire.
The Thirteen Month Series Are Not Average Tools
They Play A Big Role In The Story
The series is made up of twelve ignition weapons and an inventory item, which come in a variety of forms. Amongst them, only Golden November is considered S-Rank, but they are still very powerful in battle nonetheless. This power can be further boosted when the weapons are ignited in battle by a capable fighter. Originally, only chosen Princesses were said to be able to ignite weapons, but Anak Zahard and Baam have disproved this claim.
Baam was even able to ignite the Black March,even though Ha Yuri Zahard, a High Ranker, could not. This is because the personality of the weapon needs to resonate with the wielder for it to be ignited, so their power level is of no consequence. When two or more of the 13 Month Series are in close proximity, some type of synchronization can be felt by their wielders. This is mainly because the series was created from the key that unlocks the door to the 135th Floor, half of it specifically. So when all the 13 Months Series are combined, they form half of the key, which Zahard handed to Ashul Edwaru. This probably explains why Zahard does not want them to fall into the wrong hands, as he would prefer if no oneascends to the 135th Floor for reasonsknown to him alone.
Princesses chosen to wield one of the 13 Month Series are bound by an extra set of rules as they are considereda treasure of the Zahard Empire. They are not allowed to give out a 13-month series to another, or Zahard has the right to call for their execution. Receiving one of the series is also not mandatory and is completely at the discretion of the Princess once she has been offered. They are also allowed to own more than one weapon from the 13 Month Series, which comprises the weapons, Silver January, White February, Black March, Green April, Yellow May, Luminous June, Indigo July, Blue August, Dark September, Red October, Golden November, Colourless December, and the inventory type item, Rainbow Undecimber.
The Curse Of The 13 Month Series
The Ghost Who Torments The Princesses
The 13 Months Series is plagued by a curse that comes into effect when a Princess ignites two or more of the weapons simultaneously. However, this curse is an intentional effort birthed from a plan betweenZahard and the soul of a womanwho failed to become a Zahard Princess since she failed the initial selection test. As such, she came to resent the chosen Princesses and with the approval of Zahard, infiltrated the souls of the 13 Months Series to lie in wait for the perfect time to torment the Princesses.
The ghost can possess their body for up to a week, while rampaging and wreaking havoc everywhere the Princess goes, prompting Zahard to declare that she has run madand call for her execution. Five princesses have fallen victim to this curse, including Eurasia Enne Zahard. Zahard utilizes this to prevent any Princess from collecting all of the 13 Months, as he has no interest in marrying any of them. This curse was responsible for the downfall of the first set of Princesses as they ended up hating and killing each other under the influence of this ghost.
