However, during Alex Perez’s Q&A session forThe Cosmic Circus, the reputable scooper suggested Doctor Strange’s spell may not be permanent. When one fan asked if the spell would be explored further–by showing certain Avengers not remembering him for example–considering the potential time skip betweenNo Way HomeandSpider-Man 4, Perez replied:
Yeah, the spell will be explored more, and eventually broken.
Perez did not reveal details on how or at what point inSpider-Man 4Doctor Strange’s spell would be broken. However, if the rumor is correct, this could have significant consequences for Peter Parker. Undoing Doctor Strange’s magic and restoring everyone’s memory of Peter Parker would presumably remind the MCU’s inhabitants of the wall-crawler’s alleged role in Mysterio’s death. AsCharlie Cox’s Daredevil noted inSpider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker’s legal woes may have been avoided when the charges against him were dropped, but the “court of public opinion” still wasn’t favoring him. If everyone remembers Peter Parker is Spider-Man, might this put the wrongful accusation against him back in the spotlight?
Of course, Marvel Studios could break Doctor Strange’s spell with some caveats. Whatever breaks the spell may not necessarily do so entirely, giving the MCU writers a way to let MJ, Ned, and the Avengers remember Peter Parker without needing to revisit Mysterio’s false allegations.
