Summary
OneLEGO 2K DriveDLC is currently listed for sale on Nintendo’s Mexican website for thousands of dollars.LEGO 2K Drivelets players build as many vehicles as their imaginations can muster, but players could feasibly buy a used car for the price this DLC is selling for.
Released in May 2023, Visual Concepts’LEGO 2K Driveis the first title in amulti-game partnership between LEGO and publisher 2K. Since its launch nearly 16 months ago, the driving adventure game has seen mixed or average reactions from both fans and professional critics, with its colorful, open-world environments being one of its best selling points.
The DLC in question is the Season 4 Coin Pack, which comes with 1,100 coins to be used in game as well as a newLEGO 2K Drive vehicle, the Public Transit Bus build. The DLC sells for $9.99 on the US version of Nintendo’s site, but $72,000.18 on theMexican Nintendo site, where it has been available since March 13. Even assuming that price amount listed in pesos, and with a roughly 19:1 conversion rate between the Mexican peso and the U.S. dollar, that would still price the DLC in Mexico at around $3,700 USD, outpacing the price of the most expensive edition of the game by about $3,620.
LEGO 2K Drive DLC is Listed for a Ridiculously High Price in Mexico
More than likely, this price listing is some sort of flub by Nintendo. The Mexican Nintendo site sells the digital copy of the base game for $509, or $26.44 when converted from pesos, which is slightly under the U.S. price point of $29.99. The same can be said for anyother versions ofLEGO 2K Drive, with its Awesome Edition and Awesome Rivals Edition’s prices coming out to eight to ten dollars less in Mexico than in the United States after current conversion rates are applied. The Mexican version of Nintendo’s website also still lists the coin packs for Seasons 1-3 for $180, or $9.35 USD, apiece.
While the spectacularly high Nintendo shop price for theLEGO 2K DriveDLC is humorous, fans remain speculative of what the next collaborative game between LEGO and 2K will be. Many early leaks and rumors pointed to asoccer game calledLEGO 2K Goooal!, to be developed by Sumo Digital. Despite leaks dating back to February 2022 and speculation that the game would be released in May or June 2024, those months have already passed, and there’s yet to be any official confirmation from the publisher or developer that the game even exists.
