Summary
One person is still playingConcordon PC via Steam, despite the controversial first-person hero shooter shutting its servers down on September 6. Even thoughConcordwas a first-party PlayStation title, the game received mixed reviews from critics and only survived two weeks before being shut down.
Developed by a new PlayStation studio known as Firewalk Studios, the now-delisted shooter was aiming to be the nextOverwatch, butConcord’s poorly timed releasewas just one of many reasons why the controversial new title only lasted for two weeks before being taken offline. Alongside some stiff competition,Concordwas blasted by players for its “ugly” character design and failure to innovate in an already overpopulated genre.
Despite the fact thatConcordis officially dead, there still appears to be one individual playing the game, according toSteamDB. While the shooter only managed to peak at 697 concurrent players at launch, the website, which is an unofficial database for all things Steam, states that there is still one user with the game launched. Given that the game’s servers are no longer operational, this one player likely just has the game launched and isn’t actually playing anything. Why the user would choose to have an inoperative game constantly running, however, remains a mystery.

Die-Hard Concord Fan Remains Online
Concordmight have received mixed reviewsfrom critics, but the shooter still managed to maintain a positive review badge on Steam. Unfortunately, the low player count resulted in PlayStation delisting the title and refunding all players just two weeks afterConcordwas released. But for fans who were actually enjoying their time with the title, it’s not all bad news, as PlayStation said it would “explore options” for the future ofConcord. While there’s no confirmation that it will ever make a return, the studio appears to be going back to the drawing board before making a decision onConcord’s future.
Concord Player Maybe in Defiance of Sudden Shutdown
As servers are officially offline, it’s likely that this one individual player who remains online is simply protesting the game’s sudden shutdown. This also isn’t the first time that one sole player has remained online in a delisted game, asone lonelyThe Day Beforeplayer remained onlineafter the game’s shut down in January 2024. Although it only took four days for developer Fntastic to announceThe Day Before’s shutdown, the game remained operational for roughly six weeks in total.
WhileThe Day Beforehas often been labeled as a “scam"by gamers,Concordis nothing of the sort. After being in development for approximately eight years, according to Firewalk, the shooter was critiqued by many for failing to stand out from established hero shooters such asApex LegendsandOverwatch. While the genre may be oversaturated, Valve’s upcoming hero shooterDeadlockproves there’s still a chance at success as it manages to maintain over 100,000 concurrent players, even though the game is yet to be officially released.
