EA Hints at Cyberpunk-Themed The Sims 4 Expansion and More

But the company is already looking well beyond that time frame, having just confirmed as much via arecently launched player survey, which anyone can fill out. The questionnaire solicits fan opinions on a number of “high-level” ideas about futureThe Sims 4expansions, of which it lists 12 in total. One of them describes a DLC pack that would introduce a futuristic, cyberpunk-themed world full of sci-fi technology such as cybernetics. This potential expansion would include new tech-focused hobbies and careers, such as cybernetic cosmetics and robot fighting. It would also explore themes like relationships between humans and bots, possibly inspired byBlade Runnerand similar media.

The most succinct ideas mentioned in the survey concern a trio of expansions centered on childhood, teen, and elderly life. These are merely mentioned and not expanded upon in any way. EA has already made similar content in the past, the most recent of which wasThe Sims 4: Growing Togetherexpansionfrom March 2023. Prior to that, it releasedHigh School Yearsin July 2022. That leaves an elderly life-focused expansion as the only idea from the stated trio that the company has yet to tackle.

All Potential The Sims 4 Expansion Themes From EA’s Player Survey

The survey mentions eight more DLC concepts, including one centered on a retro world from the end of the 20th century, and another one focused on a modern monarchy. Travel van-themed and camping expansions are also on EA’s radar, as are those revolving around oceans and coastal landscapes. The survey also briefly describes a concept for an expansion that would allow players to explore a post-apocalyptic fantasy world. The final idea mentioned in the questionnaire is a criminal underground expansion that would incorporate organized crime and possibly some noir themes.

While the survey explicitly states that EA hasn’t committed to any of these ideas, it’s quite possible that the company may move forward with several of them. Namely, it was only a few days ago that the developer-publisher saidfans shouldn’t hold their breath forThe Sims 5because it had decided to keep churning outThe Sims 4content for the foreseeable future.
