Thanatos is the Greek God of death, overseeing the harvesting of Souls, predating even Hades himself. During the entire conflict, Thanatos enjoys taunting Kratos about losing the only family he has left, even as Kratos runs him through with his weapons. Thanatos was a genuinely sinister being who saw pleasure in the pain he caused.

Ares is the linchpin that started the entire story ofGod of War, being themain antagonist of the originalGod Of Wargame. Having sparked a chain of events after abducting Deimos over a prophecy that foretold the end of Olympus, Ares would interfere in Kratos’s life again as his savior.

5Heimdall
Attempted To Kill Kratos For His Father
InGod Of War: Ragnarok, Heimdall is the god of foresight, knowledge, and surveillance. He serves as an antagonist to Kratos and his son, as a blind follower of Odin and his cause to keep the gods in power. Heimdall has committed countless atrocities not only by Odin’s order but also by his own arrogance, believing himself superior to all races that reside in Midgar, just like his father.
Heimdall even sets his sights on Loki, seeking to kill the boy and succeed where his brother failed. Heimdall takes pleasure in his cruelty, unlike most of his brethren, who act with a minimal shred of humanity.
4Persephone
Sought To End All Of Existence
Persephone is one of the most sinister beings inGod of War, and as the main villain ofGod Of War: Chains of Olympus, they almost destroyed the entire world. Having grown spiteful of her daily life as the hostage bride of Hades and her dismal surroundings, Persephone plots to unleash hell on earth and end her eternal life.
She sought to do so by allowing Atlas to let go of his burden and using the God of Sleep to prevent the rest of the gods from interfering. While Persephone’s ambition to escape her fate was understandable, her goal to end all things along with her own existence is a ruthless endeavor nonetheless.
3Odin
Schemed To Kill Kratos And His Son
Odin is a legendary god among all pantheons as the king of the ravens and the all-father of the gods, only equal to Zeus himself. InGod Of War: Ragnarok, Odinslithers along the shadows as Ragnarok looms over the horizon.
In a desperate effort to gain as much power as possible and fend off the prophecy that dooms his rule and his kingdom, Odin proves he’s willing to do anything that is necessary to win, including killing Kratos and his son. Odin seems to have no line or limit when it comes to his schemes, as he preaches peace throughout most of the game but manipulates everyone he can by disguising himself as an ally.
