After listening to the song further, squishmymallows thinks that the last chord was left incomplete to signifyEllie’s unresolved survivor’s guilt, providing a unique hidden detail that many players may have missed.

However, Ellie becomes completely obsessed with killing Abby to the point that she loses Jesse and almost loses Tommy and Dina as well. For Naughty Dog to include an intentionally incomplete chord in the game’s ending song makes perfect sense to how Ellie had been feeling after her shocking final encounter with Abby.
