Summary
Embark Studios has released a new update forThe Finalsahead of its big Season 4 launch on September 26. The patch, which is available to download now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, doesn’t include any new content for players to check out, but there are a handful of vital bug fixes and a substantial UI overhaul forThe Finalsplayers to check out.
WithSeason 4 ofThe Finalsright around the corner, Embark Studios is preparing the popular first-person shooter with update 3.14.0. The update includes multiple bug fixes to the game’s animations, progression, maps, game modes, and more. But, undoubtedly the biggest addition in the September 19 patch is the UI adjustments, which reworks how the team HUD is displayed. Following today’s update, players will be able to see the archetype, specialization, and team name via the in-game HUD. Multiple other UI adjustments have also been made to rectify overlapping text and other bugs causing issues.
Despite continued content updates,The Finalsis falling short of expectations, according to Embark Studios' parent company, Nexon. While reviews from both critics and players have been largely positive, with 75% of its 183,000 Steam reviews being positive, Nexon says it was disappointed by the performance ofThe Finals' Season 2 update. While the company says it did see a surge in players on release, the spike was apparently short-lived. According toSteamDB, The Finals averages between 10,000 and 14,000 players, which may seem respectable, but pales in comparison to other free-to-play first-person shooters likeApex Legends, which averages around 200,000 concurrent players.
Thankfully, for the game’s loyal players, Embark appears to bededicated to supportingThe Finalsfor the foreseeable future. While today’s update isn’t anything to shout about, the patch notes do reveal some welcome changes that players will want to check out before the release of Season 4 on September 26.
