With such an impressive catalogue of games, the question becomes raised as to whether any of them are deserving of a proper remake.Remakes are certainly trendy in today’s gaming world, thus giving the developer plenty of incentive to pull from its extensive lineup of older games. Gamers have gottena generous helping ofLEGO Star Warsgamesover the years, butLEGOhas also put out titles from popular brands likeIndiana Jones,Harry Potter,The Lord of the Rings, comic book publishers like Marvel and DC Comics, and even a few games based on Disney and Pixar films. With Traveller’s Tales’ ability to hop across different IPs and find consistent success, there’s room for them to expand on the efforts of their previous titles.

Another problem that remakes can fix is availability, as a remake gives fans a new way to access a game that was once hard to find.In the case ofLEGOgames, though, many of the biggest ones are readily available on current platforms and still play very well today. There’s not much need to waste resources on a remake of a game that players already have access to that, quite frankly, hasn’t aged poorly enough to benefit from one.

Even recently, Traveller’s Tales did actually make some big changes with aLEGOgame in 2022’sLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Combat has been overhauled with an over-the-shoulder camera style akin to more modern action games, a huge step for a franchise that largely stuck to the same combat formula. With Traveller’s Tales making such a massive overhaul, it seems wiser to use that as a means to look to the future instead of staying in the past.
Furthermore,LEGOas a brand seems to be getting more experimental with its video games, as evidenced by the open-world survival expansionLEGO Fortnite, as well asthe upcomingLEGO Horizon Adventuresbeing developed by Guerrilla Games. It seems The LEGO Group doesn’t want to simply rest on its laurels withLEGOtitles and wants to find new ways to delight gamers who enjoy these games. Traveller’s Tales should do the same and focus more on creating new content instead of relying on its past successes.
