Summary

The24 Movieis officially happening at 20th Century Studios andDisney, but no official casting announcements have been made yet, with speculation rife over who could return. Tony Almeida was one of Jack Bauer’s most trusted allies, but he was corrupted by personal loss and became the villain in a later season. However,it’s time Tony returned to help Jack save the world in the24 Movieand redeem himself once and for all.

Carlos Bernard played Tony Almeida in the first five seasons of24, before his character appeared to die via lethal injection. However, Tony re-appeared in season 7 and, after faking his death, it appeared he’d gone rogue, pitting him against Jack Bauer.Tony is very much alive in the24universe and many fans would like to see him returntokeep a 24 franchise tradition alive.

Tony Almeida wasan important24character, and he had quite a unique journey in the long-running series. He was one ofJack Bauer’s best allies in 24as the pair fought off numerous threats to Los Angeles in the early seasons. Tony reached the pinnacle of his career in Day 3, as the head of CTU, but he lost his career due to a charge of treason. However, Tony is featured in areturn to24to save Jack and Audrey’s lives in Day 4, and ends up helping CTU stop the missiles heading for the city, and utters his famous one word on multiple occasions:

Yeah!!

Things seemed to be looking up for Tony as he rekindled his relationship with Michelle Dessler. However,Tony’s happiness was short-lived when Michelle was killed in a car bomb outside their home.Tony survived, but it was the beginning of his descent into darkness, as he tried to kill Christopher Henderson, who was responsible for Michelle’s death. Henderson jabbed Tony with a needle, and he presumably died. However,Tony’s death was faked, and he comes back bitter and twisted in Day 7, as the main villain, and ends up being arrested and sent to prison for life.

Tony Should Return In The 24 Movie To Redeem Himself For His Past Crimes

Tony Almeida resurfaced in 2014’s short video,24: Solitary, which showed him plotting to break out of prison. In 2017, a spin-off titled24: Legacywas launched, but there was no sign of Jack Bauer. However, Tony did return after his escape from prison, and he was now a mercenary who was brought in by CTU boss, Rebecca Ingram to question a suspect. He survives an attack from the new protagonist, Eric Carter, who took out the majority of Tony’s team. However, Tony ended up stepping down for the greater good.It wasn’t quite a redemption arc for the ex CTU agent, but it’s something the24 Moviecould work with if Tony Almeida does return.

Tony Almeida’s 24 appearances

Not many legacy characters are still alive in the24universe, so it would be a good idea to bring back as many as possible for24’s big screen outing. Tony Almeida was out of prison and working as a mercenary the last time audiences saw him in 2017. He was the last legacy character to be seen on screen in the long-running series, so his return in the movie seems likely. Jack Bauer and Chloe O’Brian were last seen in 2014’s24: Live Another Dayand its expected they will return for the 24 Movie. Adding Tony to the mix would be a good route to take as it would please the long-serving fans of 24.

Legacy Characters Who Could Join Jack Bauer And Tony Almeida In The 24 Movie

Many fans were disappointed to see Tony turn to the dark side in24after being such a force of good in the early seasons. However, it’s hard to imagine how a character could remain good after everything Tony has been through, so it felt earned. Jack had his own struggles with morality after experiencing so many painful losses, and while his nihilistic killing spree in Day 8 did cross the line, he never killed innocent people like Tony did.The24 Movieshould bring Tony back on the side of good as a way of redeeming his character.Jack Bauer could potentially require the services of a group of mercenaries to rescue him from the Russians, and Tony could be the man to lead that mission. This could be a positive step in his quest for forgiveness, and if he was to die to save Jack, that would probably complete his redemption arc.
