AsNetflix’sStranger Thingsseason 5 gets a little bit closer, fans are thinking about what’s going on in Hawkins, Indiana. Since the Upside Down is clearly taking over the charming small town, Vecna’s (Jamie Campbell Bower) new evil plan is on its way, and no one is safe. But what does that mean for people who don’t live in Hawkins and have never heard of Eleven’s (Millie Bobby Brown) powers or seenthe creepy monsters that hang out in the Upside Down?
Now that all of Hawkins is facing threats from the Upside Down,will the rest of the world notice?It seems impossible not to address this big and important question inStranger Thingsseason 5. While fans want some couples to reunite and hope that the main characters end up content, the focus has to be on this major plot point.
How Can Stranger Things Season 5 Address The Hawkins Situation?
Will the evil in Hawkins and the Upside Down affect the rest of the world? This is the main question on many fans' minds as they wait impatiently for the fifth and final season ofStranger Things. It would make sense if reporters traveled to Hawkins to report on what’s going on and shared their findings in newspaper articles. Then the rest of the world would take notice and, of course, be terrified about these odd events. Whilefans want some Upside Down plotlinesto come to fruition,Stranger Thingsseason 5 also needs to address how people respond globally.
There are some other significant questions that fans don’t yet have the answers to.Is this only happening in Hawkins, or has the Upside Down spread elsewhere?Will all the residents in Hawkins have to be quarantined? If these are answered properly, the final episodes will feel somewhat realistic and grounded.
While there arewild fan theories that may or may not happen, it seems like at least one character will take a leadership role in fixing the chaos and destruction in Hawkins. While this could be Eleven, others hope thatWill Byers (Noah Schnapp) could stop Vecna. It would be great to see Will find his voice and confidently make a plan for what to do next, from organizing volunteers to making sure people have enough resources.
While Hawkins has existed in a vacuum up until now,the Upside Down can’t be contained anymore. It wouldn’t make sense for people living in the rest of the U.S. (and the world) not to realize what’s happening. Fans don’t want the characters to split up, and it would also be a terrible idea to have the characters travel outside Hawkins. That was one of the main criticisms aboutStranger Thingsseason 4. But would be cool to see certainStranger Thingsseason 5 characters teaming upand helping spread the world about the Upside Down. Perhaps if there are new characters in the final season, they will come to the small town to help out.
How Did The Stranger Things Season 4 Finale Leave Hawkins?
In thefinal moments ofStranger Thingsseason 4, it was clear that the Upside Down was taking over Hawkins and that it would never be the same again… at least, not until Eleven and the others save everyone.It seemed to be snowing in Hawkins… but these were spores from the Upside Down. Since all the plant life was dying off as a result, this was a dark and ominous way to end the season.
In 2022, the Duffer Brothers spoke toDeadlineabout wantingStranger Thingsseason 4 volume two to answer some of the burning questions fans had from volume one. Fans still have questions and are certain they will be answered in the final season. Ross Duffer said:
“The biggest one being we set up in the Volume One finale how the Upside Down is stuck in time on the day of Will’s disappearance. That’s something we don’t answer in volume two, and that is really the key plot point, the key question that is going to drive our final season as we attempt to wrap up this story and give the rest of the answers out.”
While fans have ideas about someawfulStranger Thingsseason 5 endings, they alsowant tosee as much of the Upside Down as possible. There is no doubt that this setting will be a main feature of the last episodes. Since there’s no need to create a mysterious atmosphere anymore, hopefully everything will be revealed.
