Starfield’s REV-8 Vehicle Should Only Be the Beginning

Testing the Limits of Vehicles in Starfield

Starfield’s first vehicle has proven to be a huge hit for many players. Less than 24 hours after the update’s launch, mods for the REV-8 began to surface and have continued to pop up. From the Warthog from theHalofranchise toThomas the Tank Engine, players have been having a lot of fun with the REV-8. Of course, this showcases the talent and imagination of some players, but it also demonstrates the underlying desire for even more vehicle types inStarfield.

The addition ofLuke Skywalker’s X-34 Landspeederand NASA’s Lunar Rover only make an even stronger argument for a variety of land vehicles. These mods have experimented with the REV-8’s four-wheel build, butStarfieldcan explore other types of land vehicles, as well. A motorcycle-inspired machine or even a large cargo van that can carry supplies could make exploring planets far more rewarding and efficient. There could even be more high-end iterations of the REV-8 that have more power and cost more. More vehicle types wouldn’t just provide more options from a gameplay standpoint, as they would also increase player immersion and expand the horizons of whatStarfieldcould do with traversal.

Starfield’s REV-8 costs 25,000 credits.

If Bethesda continued to build upon land vehicle mechanics inStarfield, a fun way this could evolve would be through in-game racing. NPCs potentially playing a role in these driving mechanics with racing could help combat the initial criticisms thatStarfield’s world felt lifeless. There has been some feedback that the REV-8 makesStarfield’s gameplay feelreminiscent ofGTA, and Bethesda should lean into that. The game has a steep hill to climb in order to compete with other open world RPGs, but the recent experimentation Bethesda has been doing is a good sign that the game is heading in the right direction.

Starfield’s Bold Moves Are Paying Off

It seems as though Bethesda has listened, at least somewhat, to player criticism and is embracing more risky concepts. The upcomingShattered SpaceDLC is bringing forth a surprising turn to cosmic horror, and the REV-8 is teasing more potential for fun.Starfieldpromised a lot before its launch, and it didn’t entirely deliver, depending on the player’s perspective. The REV-8 may be a small change in the grand scheme of things, but it has worked wonders for the overall experience of the game. Bethesda has made one successful vehicle with great handling, so it would be fascinating to see how the developer pulls off a motorcycle or even a moped scooter.

AsStarfieldcontinues to expand its horizons, it will be intriguing to see what is next for the game. Once theShattered Spaceexpansion launches at the end of September, the potential success of the DLC could reignite even more interest in the space RPG. If interest grows larger, then the updates will likely continue to flow, and more vehicles will hopefully be considered in that evolution.
