Stardew Valleycould bring something entirely new to the Valley with its own version of one ofAnimal Crossing’s long-running NPCs.Stardew Valley’s collection of characters spans several different roles, including shopkeepers, love interests, and more.Animal Crossingalso benefits greatly from its NPCs, both the villagers who move in as well as those with concrete positions in the town. With that in mind, it should be noted thatAnimal Crossinghas one NPC unlike any thatStardew Valleyhas to offer. In a future update, a new addition to Pelican Town could fill that unusual niche.
There are several differences betweenStardew ValleyandAnimal Crossingdespite both games sharing the cozy gaming genre. Both games see players living in a new town and handling daily chores, but from there, the games go in different directions. InAnimal Crossing, villagers can move in and out of the player’s town, and a major part of the game is designing the player’s home and the island itself. Meanwhile,Stardew Valleyhas a set group of NPCs, relationship and marriage options, and even combat in the mines and Skull Cavern.Stardew ValleyandAnimal Crossinghit the same niche, but in different ways.
Fake Items in Stardew Valley Would Be Pretty Similar to Redd’s Dealings in Animal Crossing
Redd Regularly Runs Shady Deals in Animal Crossing
One NPC that has shown up several times isAnimal Crossing’s memorable Redd. Something of a rival to Tom Nook, Redd is a rather shady fox businessman who tends to sell expensive items. There are often some suspicious details surrounding Redd’s shop, such as needing to pay an entry fee or having to know a special password. In addition, some of the art that Redd sells can be forgeries, a fact made more painful by the prices he asks for them. This makes dealing with Redd something of a gamble. Players could get a rare item or get swindled into buying a fake.
Stardew Valley Could Have Its Own Untrustworthy Shopkeeper Appear
Introducing a character like Redd could add a few wrinkles whenfilling outStardew Valley’s museum. Since most artifacts take quite a bit of searching to find, a new vendor selling artifacts would be a welcome sight to many. However, this vendor could easily turn out to be someone like Redd, who sells fakes alongside genuine articles while asking high prices either way. If a player tried to donate a fake, then Gunther would have to point it out to them, making it clear that they wasted their money. Once identified, these forgeries would be like any other trash item in the game.
Stardew Valley’s Wizard Could Make Magic From Forgeries
Stardew Valleymight be able to do even more with the concept of forgeries. Theresident wizard ofStardew Valleycould have some new interactions with them. For instance, the player could be able to sell forgeries to him out of curiosity, or he could be able to break them down into their base materials for the player to use to craft other things. Similarly, if items such as weapons or equipment turned out to be counterfeit, the Wizard might be able to turn them into the real deal.Stardew Valleyand the Wizard could potentially have many new interactions with forged items.
Forgeries would be a new twist inStardew Valley, but it could lead to an entertaining mechanic. In addition to theinteresting NPC reactions inStardew Valleythat a shady merchant could bring, the forgeries themselves could add an extra layer to the game’s items. While it may not be a perfect fit into the general setting ofStardew Valley, there is potential for finding forgeries to end up being a fun addition to the game. Redd’s influence could very well lead to a new complication forStardew Valleyplayers.
