Star Wars Outlawsoffers a unique progression system that sets it apart from other open-world Ubisoft titles. The developers have gone to great lengths to ensure it doesn’t follow the traditional skill point formula. While players can still upgrade various elements — whether it’s their blaster, abilities, speeder, or ship — this time, progression is achieved through Experts.

InStar Wars Outlaws, progression is driven by Expert NPCs, who are allies that either teach you new skills or enhance your equipment. This approach makes progression feel more personal, moving away from the typical focus on increasing stats.Selo Rovak is one such Expert. She is an accomplished mechanic who provides a much-needed boost to your speeder. You can find her at Selo’s Shop during the Speeder Mechanic questline.

Acquiring the Mechanic Mission

When you first arrive at Selo’s Shop and speak with Selo, you’ll receive a new expert quest called The Mechanic. In this quest, your objective is to infiltrate an Imperial Wind Harvester and steal a crucial item known as theAtmospheric Accelerator.

While reaching the Wind Harvester is relatively straightforward, obtaining the item itself presents more of a challenge. The level isn’t difficult in terms of stealth or combat, but it does involve a lot of platforming, where one wrong move can result in death. Fortunately, thegame’s generous autosave systemensures that you won’t lose much progress if you slip up.

Reaching the Imperial Wind Harvester

After speaking with Selo, head toward the Wind Harvester. It will be marked on your map and is relatively easy to reach. Located west of Selo’s Shop, the Wind Harvester is over a kilometer away, so hop onto your speeder and make your way there.

When you arrive at the Harvester’s entrance, a dialogue sequence between Selo andKay Vess will begin. Let the conversation play out, and once it concludes, approach the nearby console and interact with it. This action will stop the massive fan that was previously blocking your path, allowing you to proceed inside.

Next, get back on your speeder and travel through the newly opened route. Continue straight and then take the right path. Keep going until you reach a metal wall with an open door. This is your cue to dismount from the speeder and continue on foot.

Traversing Inside the Imperial Wind Harvester

Head inside and take the lower path. Avoid the large fans above, as they will fling you across the room if you try to pass that way. At the bottom, you’ll encounter a red barrier. Send yourtrusty companion Nix to interactwith the button on the other side to disable the barrier.

Once the barrier is down, go through the vent on your right and climb the ladder. Follow the linear path until you drop down onto some massive pipes. From there, take a left and jump onto the higher pipes. This is where things get tricky. You’ll need to sprint to the other side, but only when the massive fans have stopped; otherwise, you’ll be blown onto the pipes. Time it correctly, and make a run for it.

Once you’re there, jump down onto the pipes and then to the platform below. From this vantage point, look to the southwest and shoot the yellow generator. This will stop the fans, allowing you to proceed. Head toward the closed door and jump onto the handholds to its right. Traverse the wall until you reach the massive exposed pipe below. Drop down through the opening and continue straight until you encounter another significant drop. Be sure to loot the container here before squeezing through the small gap. Once through, look to your west.

The massive metal blocks move at regular intervals, so you’ll need to time your sprint carefully to reach the other side. If you mistime it, the moving blocks can crush you. After crossing, jump onto the grill and make your way to the top-left platform. Be aware that the two fans in between will turn on periodically, so time your climb accordingly.

Keep an eye on the lights adjacent to the fans — they will illuminate when the fans are about to activate. Also, there’s another container on the platform, so don’t forget to grab it.

Once on the platform, shoot the two yellow rods in front of you to stop the massive fan. Then, use your grapple hook to swing across to the next platform. Use the handholds again to reach another platform to your upper left. Be sure to time your climb carefully, as the massive fan can still fling you to your death.

Next, sprint across the platform while avoiding the moving blocks. Jump onto the grill and reach the upper area. Then, jump on top of the moving blocks to reach the other side. Climb the handholds once again, moving all the way to the right while staying mindful of the two fans.

After crossing the fans, climb up and enter the vent. Keep moving straight, climb the ladder, and then take a right turn. When you drop down through the hole in the floor, you’ll land in a control room. Loot any items and open any chests you find here. Finally, interact with the console, and Kay Vess willretrieve the Atmospheric Acceleratorfrom the machine, which will shut down all the fans.

Making Your Way Out

Your next task is to escape this wretched place. Take the left door and follow the linear path, using your grapple hook to swing across any gaps. Land on the massive fan platform and continue straight. For some reason, yourspeeder will be waiting for youhere — don’t question how it got there, just hop on. Now, head straight east, carefully avoiding any still fan blades.

Reaching Selo’s Shop Again

Once you’re out, your final task is to return to Selo’s Shop. When you arrive, talk to Selo, and after the cutscene, you’ll unlock a new ability for your speeder:Speed Boost. This ability allows you to initiate a brief burst of speed on your speeder. With that, Selo’s expert quest, The Mechanic, comes to a conclusion.

The Speed Boost is particularly useful for jumping across large gaps — just activate it right before the jump to gain extra momentum.

Further Mechanic Ability Upgrades

Unlocking the Speed Boost doesn’t mean you’re done upgrading either yourself or your speeder. With Selo as an expert, you can now complete additional challenges to unlock even more abilities. The rest of the abilities and their respective conditions are as follows:

Adds a small jump ability to your speeder

Nix emits a sound when a container is nearby. Additionally, containers are highlighted in blue when you press the designated button (B is the default key).
