González’s performance really sells this idea that Kay is new to this world, but that she’s determined to work with the best and make a name for herself.

Another typical trait of aStar Warsscoundrel is that, on the surface, they don’t seem to care about anybody or anything other than themselves and their payout. But what separates scoundrels fromStar Wars' criminals and villainsis that, deep down, they have a heart of gold. It’s just buried beneath a cocky, self-centered facade.
Kay Vess follows this archetype closely. InStar Wars Outlaws' first few hours, it seems as though Kay doesn’t care too much about the people she meets along the way. She’s always eager to help out and make friends, but it’s clear that she’s doing it for her own personal gain. But after a while, some layers are peeled back and fans are shown that Kay Vess does have a moral compass, especially when it comes to the rare few she considers friends. This is particularly evident inKay and Nix’s relationship, as it’s clear she’ll do anything to protect her companion.
Once again, Humberly González’s performance is what brings this character trait to life. While Kay might be saying a line that, on paper, seems to shrug off whatever negative consequences have just resulted from her actions, González’s performance will often betray Kay’s stoic facade, hinting that the character does feel remorse or compassion for those affected.
