Space Marine 2 Gets Private Operations Lobbies and More Features

The developer’s latestSpace Marine 2updatebegan rolling out to players on Thursday, September 26. Identified by version number 3.0, this release debuts a handful of gameplay features, including the much-requested Private Operations mode. Much like its name suggests, this addition allows players to experience operations without being paired with random players during missions. Private Operations are hence either played by allying with bots or a friend. Some other novelties included in this patch are the ability to reset custom color presets, as well as the self-explanatory “What’s New” and “Message of the Day” boards.

The 3.0 update also debuts ultrawide support for thePC version ofSpace Marine 2, as well as the Hub Sparring Arena. The latter is meant to host PvP matches with players in one’s squad. The Hub Sparring Arena can be found on the Battlebarge and is available in the Eternal War Game and Operations modes. In terms of impactful gameplay changes, Saber Interactive updated the marking tool in order to make it pickier about what it highlights, preventing it from interacting with objects that don’t need marking. The tool has also been made more responsive, the developer’s changelog reads.

Another notable tweak introduced in this patch concerns the Power Fist, which received a significant charged attack damage buff. Some testing will be required to determine how this affects its viability relative to otherSpace Marine 2melee weapons, as the developer did not elaborate on this buff with any concrete figures. Regarding other balancing changes, the 3.0 update tweaks Med Stims, making them not just heal but also restore contested health. Furthermore, the infinite Ammo Cache is no longer able to refill Aux grenade launcher ammo, which can only be restocked with Ammo Boxes following the latest patch.

The update also buffs Heavy Plasma with a +5 base ammo increase, wider blast damage radius, and 10% higher base damage. Its overheating rate has also been decreased from 20 to 15 for base shots and from 50 to 30 for charged shooting. Dozens of bug fixes and general-purpose tweaks are part of the newly debuted patch as well.
