Operations is a PvE game mode inWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2,intended to be highly replayable, and players can begin engaging with it after completing the game’s tutorial. While some fans will undoubtedly be interested in completing Operations missions with other players, some may prefer that their squads be filled with bots. For those players who would like to undertake solo Operations inSpace Marine 2, this guide explains if it is possible.
Updated Jul 19, 2025, by Abhinav Sharma:The developers of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 have just released a major update. Update 3 introduces several highly requested features, including the option to play Operations Mode privately.
Space Marine 2: Can You Play Operations Solo?
Playing Operations in a private lobby is straightforward. Start by interacting with the mission selector and navigating to the Operations tab. Once there, press the ‘Y’ key to create a private lobby. From that point, select the mission you’d like to play, then head to the helicopter area to begin.
In the Private lobby, you can play Operations with bots or with one friend and one bot.
AsSpace Marine 2’s post-launch roadmapindicated, private PvE lobbies have beenadded thanks to the recently released Update 3. Players can now use those lobbies to put bots on their Operations teams. While the highly demanded feature was missing during the launch, fans can now launch into solo Operations levels with no issues.
This is not the only new feature that players have been added via Update 3. As the roadmap mentioned, official ultrawide support has been introduced as well, along with the highly anticipatedBattle Barge Sparring Arena, where brothers can go toe to toe against each other.
To note, the word “consistently” was used previously because someSpace Marine 2playersreport that they have been able to undertake solo Operations by entering the ready zone before any other players are added to their squads. That approach is not something that this writer has been able to replicate, though, andfans should not expect to have a great deal of success with it.
It is also worth mentioning that it is possible to play soloOperations inSpace Marine 2by disconnecting from the internet. Indeed, selecting a mission in offline mode will cause the player’s squad to automatically fill with bots, though this approach has a significant issue. Specifically, none of the Operations progress that is made when offline is retained, and offline players will find that they have lost all the XP and rewards they earned the next time they start the game.
