As players head into the violent war that engulfs the galaxy inWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, they must accept their pledge of eternal service to fight back the hordes of Tyranids and Chaos, but veterans and rookies alike might all make the same mistake that will cost them their lives, or even worse, thelives of their battle brothers.
There are a few tips and tricks forSpace Marine 2that will help players navigate into their newfound life of an Ultramarine, as there is more to it than simply picking up a Bolter and blasting Tyranids and heretics alike with mutual hate.
6Refusing to Use Class Abilities
Abilities Are Expendable and Helpful
Something that all players should be aware of, whether it’s in the campaign or Operations, is how vitaleach Class’s abilitiesare. Abilities are a pathway to more power, and they can really strengthen the team through each Class’s distinct features. Whether it’s throwing up a Chapter Banner to regenerate armor, or using an Iron Halo to shield allies from ranged damage, each ability is vital to survival.
Yet, some players might treat abilities like they would an ultimate ability, and save it for later. This doesn’t need to be the case as abilities are easily regenerated through dealing damage to enemies. If players get an ability, they shouldn’t feel like they have to save it, as using it up could save a life, and they are bound to get one back thanks to the endless waves of enemies.
5Failing to Parry and Dodge
Parries and Dodges Unlock Gun Strikes For Extra Damage and Armor
Space Marine 2isn’t just about shooting everything in sight, and sometimes, players need to adapt to the situation that they have involved themselves in.Some enemies are far more brutalthan others, and it might be important to focus on successful dodges and parries so that players will not lose health in trying to tank the hit with their armor.
A perfect parry and a perfect dodge also help keep the combat fluid and fast-moving, as well as awarding those successful in their efforts with a gun strike. A successful gun strike deals tons of damage and grants back an armor bar, so it’s the perfect way to keep health up.
4Forgetting to Crush Crates
Boxes Can Contain Useful Equipment When It’s Needed Most
Throughout each mission, players will find a stack of green crates. These aren’t just for set decoration, and players can either shoot them or roll into them to destroy the crates and reveal the contents within. This is extremely useful, no matter the difficulty, as players might find an armor boost, some more ammunition, or even better, a medkit to heal themselves and stop a deadly incapacitation from causing a defeat.
Always be on the lookout for these boxes and never leave them uncrushed. Players who actively avoid looking for resources by exploring are going to have a hard time, as it’s only a matter of time before they run out of ammo or health. Players might even getlucky enough to find a Guardian Relic, which can be used to revive themselves.
3Not Focusing Executions and Finishers
Executions Grant Breaks From The Fight and Contested Health
It’s nice to have an enemy pulsing red when they are awaiting an execution. It’s a perfect rest from the fight by removing an enemy from the battle. Yet, thatdoesn’t mean the fight is over. When an enemy is pulsing red, that’s not an opportunity to ignore them, if players do not finish them off through an execution or continuous damage then they will heal and return to the fight for even more trouble.
Players should always focus on executions when available, as this provides some respite. During a finisher animation, players are invulnerable from damage, and the conclusion of the finisher will stun enemies whilst also giving some armor and healing contested HP.
2Choosing a Difficulty That’s Too Hard
A Challenge Awaits For Those Who Dare, But It’s Not Essential
Something that’s far too common with some games is that players attempt to challenge themselves when they are simply not ready. There’s no shame in starting at the easier difficulties and working a way up to face a more difficult challenge once players have gotten used to the many different enemy types and found a build that they are comfortable with using.
Heading straight into one of the hardest missions with the hardest difficulty enabled is going to be a bad time for everyone, and this is a team effort, so a veteran can’t exactly carry a new player (even withthe best weapons) when there are near-unlimited hordes of enemies. Start on easier difficulties just to learn the game, as nobody should bite more than they can chew.
1Going in as a Lone Wolf
WhilstSpace Marine 2is extremely fun for solo players and co-op players alike, there’s one rule that everyone should follow: never leave the squad behind. Whether they are real players or bots, the squad is essential to survival, as this is a three-man squad against the entire forces of Chaos and Tyranids, so trying to take on every enemy alone is theeasiest way to get killed.
Players should always stay as a unit to ensure maximum efficiency. With threeBoltersandChainswordsfocused on the swarming hordes, players are going to have a better time and avoid overwhelming situations where they are going to cause their own demise, which will start a domino effect to wipe out the squad.
