As revealed on the officialPlayStation Directwebsite, players will soon be able to order refurbished PS5 consoles and controllers for considerably less than the cost of their factory-fresh counterparts. According to the website, a refurbished PS5 with physical disk drive will cost $399.99, and the all-digital version will cost $349.99. Both of these options are about $100 less than ordering a new system from other online retailers.

Customers will also be able to order usedPlayStation 5 DualSense controllersfor less than their usual cost, with the standard white-and-black controllers and all-black variants being listed for $59.99. Alternate color schemes like Galactic Purple, Nova Pink, and Gray Camouflage will cost $64.99, a $10 discount when compared to their usual prices. However, these PS5 DualSense controller options only appear to be available in the US for the time being.
Sony’s website explains that anyone who orders a refurbishedPlayStation 5 console or controllerwill receive “a product that works like new with genuine PlayStation replacement parts (as needed) that has been thoroughly cleaned, inspected and tested," complete with all the needed cables, manuals, and paperwork alongside a 12-month manufacturer’s warranty. While Sony warns that these used PS5 units might have some minor “cosmetic imperfections,” they will be properly cleaned and tested to make sure everything works before they are shipped out to customers. Sony has not announced when it is going to start selling these pre-ownedPlayStation 5systems.
