However,Project Reneapparently continues its development as well, and this leak seems to give an idea as to how the two games might co-exist.
Reddit user and leakerDzXAnt22shared a lot of screenshots and information about the recent playtest they were able to check out ofProject Rene. From the sounds of it,Project Reneis intended to be a multiplayer game that allows players to take control of a Sim and go through their daily life. In the playtest, the controlled Sim was able to get a job at a cafe, prepare drinks and food, and could go and spend their hard-earnedSimoleonsat a clothing store. Very little additional content was available in the playtest, with only a few Sims presets to select from and just as few additional outfits.

The Sims Project Rene Leaker Shares Details
In addition to the experience they had, the leaker had some things to say about what they expect from the game. This playtest only focused on a small portion of what will be expected from standard gameplay. Players were able toearn Simoleonseither by working or by leveling up, with five levels to attain in the test. XP was earned by completing quests, working at the cafe, talking to other Sims, or visiting the fountain. In general, the leaker wasn’t too impressed with the visuals, but also didn’t judge them too harshly, pointing out that the game was clearly tuned for performance at this phase and things like character models might change in a full release.
Players' Response to Leak Mostly Negative
Players responding to the leak have largely been far from positive about it. While a few seem enthused at the idea of the game’s multiplayer components, many have been critical, referring toProject Reneas “The Sims Mobilebut worse,” with several expressing wariness of potential microtransactions. WithThe Sims Mobileending new content earlier in 2024, it seems likely thatProject Reneis primed to take its spot. It remains to be seen ifProject Renecan provide aSimsmultiplayer experience that satisfies players without relying too heavily on microtransactions.
