Anticipation for theSilent Hill 2remake is running high among horror fans, and its release date also lines up perfectly with spooky season. Not only is the remake set to modernize the 2001 Konami horror classic with bleeding-edge Unreal Engine 5 tech, but Bloober Team has alsodoubled theSilent Hill 2remake’s length over the original, offering around 16–18 hours of gameplay. Up until this point, it was unknown how longSilent Hill 2would stay off Xbox consoles, but that question has finally been answered. Over on PlayStation’s YouTube channel, a newtrailer highlightingSilent Hill 2’s immersive featuresreveals that the remake will be aPS5 console exclusive for exactly one year, with the timed exclusivity window set to end on May 29, 2025. This isn’t confirmation ofSilent Hill 2releasing on Xbox Series X/S on that date, though, but a minimum waiting period for players on the Microsoft platform.

Xbox Players Must Wait At Least One Year for Silent Hill 2

It’s unfortunate that Xbox users looking forward to theSilent Hill 2remake will have to wait out an entire calendar year at the very least to see the game launch on Series X/S, but such is the nature of timed exclusivity agreements. PlayStation has definitely been more aggressive when it comes to securing huge timed exclusivity deals lately, with the market-leading platformlocking downFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthjust earlier this year for three months.

However, Xbox also has ahighly-anticipated upcoming timed exclusive inSTALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, which is confirmed to release on November 20 for Series X/S and PC. In both cases, though, it seems PC players are getting the better end of the bargain. Nevertheless, theSilent Hill 2remake is shaping up to be a worthy modernization of the revered 2001 original, and will hopefully open up the door for moreSilent Hillremakes from Konami.
