There was a rumor thatScream 7may have a time jump, which would create a stumbling block for the Ghostface attacks taking place on the 30th anniversary. However, the attacks could still coincide with the exact date Billy Loomis and Stu Macher killed Sidney’s motherand also began their Ghostface spree. The 15th anniversary of the Ghostface attacks inScream 4overshadowed the fact that it was also the exact same date Sidney’s mother was murdered.Scream 7will be released in 2025, and if the timeline continues to reflect the real life passage of time, this would coincide with the 30th anniversary of Maureen Prescott’s murder.Scream 7should make more of a reference to the anniversary of Maureen’s death, and have the Ghostface attacks take place on this date.

Scream 7will be a Sidney focused story which will likely delve into the trauma she’s suffered over the years. The anniversary of her mother’s murder would be a potentially triggering date for Sidney, coupled with the trauma of the original Ghostface attacks. IfScream 7takes place on this anniversary, a brand new Ghostface attack might just tip the iconic final girl over the edge. The stakes are much higher this time around, with Sidney now having her own children to protect. The mother/daughter relationship inScream 7could bring back memories of Sidney’s own relationship with her slain mother, and create some interesting parallels.

A renewed focus on the anniversary of Maureen Prescott inScream 7would also pave the way to explore a certainGhostface killer’s backstory.Roman Bridger was Maureen’s son whom she abandoned, and he ended up beingthe franchise mastermindbehind her murder, before embarking on his own string of killings inScream 3. There is a tortured history of killers in the Prescott family, with Sidney’s cousin, Jill Roberts, also donning the famous Ghostface mask on the anniversary of Maureen’s death inScream 4. The 30th anniversary of the Prescott matriarch’s death could also spawn another serial killer in the family, withone of Sidney’s kids potentially being Ghostface. If this was to happen, it would create the biggest dilemma Sidney has ever faced, and it could seeGhostface surviving to change the format.

The love for a child is unconditional, and it would create aSidney plot pointthat has never been explored before, if she was faced with having to kill her own child. Sidney had already killed her own brother and her cousin, with some mixed feelings about it.If Sidneyhad to choose whether to kill her own child, it would create some very significant drama, especially if it all took place on the anniversary of Maureen’s brutal death.Sidney discovered her mother’s dead body, andScream 7could featurea flashback to this kill, to set up the trauma she will face in the new movie.
