While unexpected reveals are the best part of a horror movie, it’s also fun to attempt to guess what’s going to happen. Although every movie in the slasher franchise has some fun twists and turns, fans think they have figured out quite a few things aboutScream 7. After all, horror audiences have been watching these movies since the first one came out in 1996, and there are a few common elements in each one. Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) may not have appeared inScream 6, but the film still had a great opening scene, some surprising moments, and a cool reveal near the end.
Sincethere aren’t manyScream 7details, fans have come up with a long list of theories about what Sidney Prescott’s fight against Ghostface could look like. There is one particularly engaging fan theory that could set up three newScreammovies. While fans will still have to wait a little longer to find out if it’s going to come true, it’s fun to think about.
Redditor @Careful-Trifle8963suggesteda fan theory that Tara Carpenter’s (Jenna Ortega) father/Sam Carpenter’s (Melissa Barrera) stepfather is the Ghostface killer inScream 7.They wrote:
“He links back to the first one as he knew billy and stu etc. maybe he never knew about Christina and billy (he finds out in Sam’s diaries) and he’s after revenge/angry and taking it out on sam to ‘punish’ Christina and billy (i know hes dead but you know its scream and we can punish the dead). It works with the original scream 3 as hes a ‘step’ relative.”
SinceScream 7should have an exciting Ghostface reveal, it would be shocking to learn that Tara and Sam’s parent was behind the new killings. This could set up a new trilogy since this storyline could lead to a three-movie arc about this character. It would also be a good idea to have some kind of connection to Tara and Sam since they won’t be in the horror franchise anymore. Although someotherScream 7characters can take their place, it still makes sense to wrap up their arcs in some way.
This fan theory also works becausethe Ghostface killers inScream 8andScream 9could be connected to Sam and Tarasomehow. While Ghostface has always killed because of Sidney, some fans feel that is getting old and tired and it’s time to switch things up. However, it’s still possible for each new Ghostface killer to be tied to Sidney along with the Carpenter sisters.
Whether or notScream 7has a high body count, it would be a good idea for the next three movies to explore the theme of family. Since Sidney has a husband and kids now, she is likely thinking about her legacy along with all the terrible things that happened to her in the past. It would be interesting for her to think about Tara and Sam’s parents, too.
Some fans like this idea since it goes againstthe common fan theory that Christina Carpenter is Ghostface inScream 7.Redditor @RobTheFarm wrote, “I don’t know much of the theories already posted but I feel like they are doing a good job of setting up the mother as a problem for the third. This would be a nice twist on that.”
What Is Known About Scream 7?

Fans are curiousifScream 7andScream 8could be filmed one after the other. While an eighth movie hasn’t been greenlit, it does seem possible that the franchise will continue. At the very least, audiences know that the seventh movie will film at the end of the year. In a July 2024 interview withIndieWire, Campbell shared the start date for the upcoming movie. She said:
