Despite their connection, Sidney and Mark’s relationship never advanced to a romantic entanglement inScream 3,and there was no mention of Mark Kincaid inSidney’s plot points inScream 4. However, when Dewey Riley called Sidney after the first Ghostface attack on Tara Carpenter inScream (2022), it was revealed that the iconic final girl was now in a relationship with Mark, and they had children together. After Dewey died,Sidney returned to Woodsboroto avenge his death, but there was no sign of Mark. During the events ofScream 6, neither Sidney nor Mark made an appearance, withGale Weathersexplaining that the couple had gone into hiding with their children, as Sidney sought her happy ending.
Scream 7 Will Have To Establish Sidney And Mark’s Relationship Before The Inevitable Downfall When Ghostface Turns Up
Sidney Prescott’s happy ending with Mark and their children looks set to come undone inScream 7. However, before Ghostface terrorizes them with his Buck 120 knife, thefans want to see Sidney and Mark’s dynamic as a married couple and as parents to their three daughters.It would also be beneficial to delve into their backstory, as very little is known about their relationship, between the period from the end ofScream 3to the beginning ofScream 7, which is 25 long years.
Sidney and Mark’s three children are believed to be all under the age of 10 during the events ofScream (2022), so that would mean their relationship potentially started after the events ofScream 4, with 11 years passing by between Wes Craven’s final movie, and Radio Silence’s first entry in the franchise. However, what happened between Sidney and Mark between the events ofScream 3andScream 4? Was there a point where they reconnected after the Ghostface killings inScream 4after years apart? So many questions, and not a lot of time to answer all of them before Ghostface comes slashing back into their lives inScream 7.

A rumor had been circulating that Patrick Dempsey’sScream 7legacy returnwas in doubt as the actor was stalling on signing up because Mark didn’t have a big enough part to play in the movie. It would be a huge mistake to sideline Mark’s character, as fans have been waiting over two decades for his return.
If Sidney and Mark’s relationship is well established inScream 7, and they do choose to kill off his character later in the movie, the effect of his death will be felt so much more.There are a lot of new fans to the franchise that won’t be familiar with Mark’s character, sothe legacy and new fans need to unitein their grief for his death if that does indeed happen.Scream 2’s best ideawas to set up Sidney and Derek’s romantic relationship well before Ghostface killer, Mickey Altieri, shot Sidney’s boyfriend in the chest during the final sequence.
