The biggest thing that draws people toSatisfactoryisthe in-depth automation that it features. It caters to the kind of players who don’t mind spending hours optimizing the production of a single resource, just to redo it later once they unlock better equipment and buildings.
Like other games in the genre, Satisfactory features a robust upgrade system, which is necessary for anyone looking to progress in the game. Starting off with hundreds of craftable recipes and dozens of base resources can be quite overwhelming, so many things are locked behind this progression system in the game, known as milestones.
What Are Milestones In Satisfactory
Satisfactoryhelps the players unlock more resources and manage their production better as they progress through the game. There are two ways the game does so: theMAM buildingand the Hub, the latter of which contains a terminal to unlock milestones in the game.
In total, there are9 Tiers, each containing multiple milestones that help the player progress further into the game once unlocked. Unlocking milestones is crucial, as they unlock resources that playersneed in order to build advanced buildingsand make the Space Elevator.
How To Unlock Milestones In Satisfactory
To unlock a milestone, players need to pay their cost. At the start, players will be able to manually craft these resources by hand, but as they progress through the tiers, they will start needing a truly ridiculous amount of resources, which will require them toautomate the production.
The better you start your automation journey at the start, the longer you can go before feeling like you need to completely revamp your base to make it look neat and clean. Players can select the milestone they’re trying to unlock in order to get a HUD element showing them how much of the cost they’ve already contributed — along with how much more they need before they can unlock the milestone. Once unlocked, players will get a mix ofnew equipment, buildings, and resources as reward.
After completing all the milestones in Tier 0, you’ll gain access to Tier 1 and 2. To unlock Tier 3 and 4, players will need to start building thespace elevator, which is a part of Project Assembly, the main objective that you have to clear in order to win the game. Phase 2 (Tier 5 and 6) will unlock phase 3 (Tier 7 and 8) ofProject Assembly, while phase 4 will unlock Tier 9.
