Summary
Black Myth: Wukongis currently planned to receive two pieces of DLC, a known leaker has said. This claim was shared as part of a more comprehensive info dump that also potentially revealed the codename of theBlack Myth: Wukongsequel.
Black Myth: Wukongwas released for the PS5 and PCon August 20. Developed by Chinese studio Game Science, the action RPG has promptly established itself as a humongous hit, selling more than 10 million copies in its first three days on the market.
Black Myth: Wukong Reportedly Getting 2 DLCs
Game Science is now supposedly looking to follow up on this massively successful release with multipleBlack Myth: WukongDLC packs. That’s according to Twitter user IgnusTheWise, also known as Lunatic Ignus, who previously leaked a number of accurate details about the ARPG. According to their most recently shared insights, the Chinese developer is currently planning to release two DLCs for its hit game. While the leaker didn’t provide a specific timeline for when this extra content is supposedly planned to hit the market, they did claim that both DLC packs would debut before the next entry in the franchise, which seems like a given.
BM: Wukong May Be Followed by Black Myth: Jiang Ziya
On that note, Lunatic Ignus also claimed that the second series installment is code-namedBlack Myth: Jiang Ziya. Although Game Science officially said nothing of the sort, the developer did previously confirm thatWukongis planned to be the start of a new ARPG franchise inspired byChinese mythology. Lunatic Ignus’s recent claim fits with that stated ambition, as Jiang Ziya is a major figure in the folklore, history, and literature of the Far Eastern country, much like Sun Wukong. The leak implies that the nextBlack Mythgame might be based on the classical Chinese novelInvestiture of the Gods, in which Jiang Ziya is a central figure, similar to howWukongborrowed heavily from the Sun Wukong-focusedJourney to the West.
Lunatic Ignus also claimed that Game Science’s ARPG was initially planned to have 13 chapters rather than the six that it ended up with. Whether its purported DLCs will be based on some of those supposedly scrappedBlack Myth: Wukongchaptersis unclear, but seems plausible, as that’s exactly how post-release game content often comes into existence.
In the meantime, Game Science is continuing to work on the Xbox version of the ARPG, which was originally planned to be released alongside its PC and PlayStation counterparts but ended up being hit with an indefinite delay back in June 2024. While the reason for the postponement hasn’t been made official, some recent reports indicated that Game Science signed a temporary exclusivity deal with Sony on the down-low.
