Now Jez Corden has commented on the strong possibility of Square Enix’s current slate ofFinal Fantasygames coming to Xbox.
On the latest episode of the Xbox Two podcast, Corden says he heard that the “whole slate” ofFinal Fantasywould be coming to Xbox. This “slate” is theFinal Fantasy Pixel Remasterseries, which are remasters of the first six numbered games in the franchise,Final Fantasy 16, andFinal Fantasy 7 Remake. Corden noted that he doesn’t know whenFF7Rwill be coming to Xbox, saying it likely wouldn’t be a part of the “first wave” of games coming to the system. Corden also detailed his personal expectations, saying that he believes that thePixel Remasterswill be first along withFF16.

Corden believesFinal Fantasy 16would be a higher priority over theFinal Fantasy 7 Remakebecause ofFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth.Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthhad its own exclusivity windowthat has passed, Corden believes thatRebirthstill has some exclusivity tied around it since it is more recent. There’s also the possibility that, since the remakes are a part of a trilogy, Square is waiting until all three games are released before bringing them to Xbox.
As for when these games could be released, Corden didn’t say, though he believes something related could show up at Tokyo Game Show.Microsoft confirmed it will be present at TGS 2024, with a livestream broadcast taking place on September 26. Fans will need to wait and see if anything comes out of this for now.
