Summary
The yet-to-be-announcedResident Evil Code: Veronicaremake will apparently not be as ambitious as theResident Evil 4remake. Capcom has not announced its future plans forResident Evilremakes, but reputable sources have claimed that the next two remakes on deck areCode: VeronicaandRE0.
While there were some reports that aResident Evil 5remake was in the works, the latest is that Capcom is working on remakes ofCode: VeronicaandResident Evil Zeroinstead. Many were disappointed when Capcom announced theResident Evil 4remake, as it seemed like the company was going to completely skipCode: Veronica, so it’s definitely a relief to learn that the game is going to get the remake treatment.
But whileCode: Veronicais said to be getting a remake, franchise fans shouldn’t expect it to be on the same scale as theRE4remake. This is according to Dusk Golem,as reported by WCCFTech, who reportedly said that Capcom doesn’t plan for remakes to be “as ‘ambitious’ asRE4.” Dusk Golem added thatResident Evil 4is considered “the crown jewel of remakes” at Capcom because of its “scale, scope” and “expectation.” Now, this doesn’t mean that fans can’t expect theCode: Veronicaremake to be high-quality, but it’s still a disappointing update on the game and other remakes Capcom has in the pipeline.
Future Resident Evil Remakes May Not Be As Ambitious As RE4
Some online have jumped to the conclusion that this means theCode: Veronicaremake will be more liketheResident Evil 3remake, which many considered a disappointment compared toResident Evil 2. After all, theResident Evil 3remake was scaled back compared to the original, and many felt like it was a big step down from what theRE2remake brought to the table. However, fans should definitely wait to actually see the game for themselves before making any assumptions. Even if theCode Veronicaremake isn’t as ambitious theResident Evil 4remake, that doesn’t mean it can’t be on the level of theRE2remake, which was met with widespread critical acclaim and is considered by many to be one of the best games in the series.
It remains to be seen exactly whenResident Evilfans will get to learn about the next game in the long-running survival-horror series. If the rumors and leaks are to be believed,Resident Evil 9is the next game, and so it could be years before theCode VeronicaandRE0remakes are revealed to the world.
