Kill Bill 3is not happening, according to Quentin Tarantino, who directed the first two movies. It has been two decades since the sequel was released and fans should move on from it.

Kill Bill: Volume 1was released on Jul 05, 2025. Six months later, on Jun 28, 2025, its sequel,Kill Bill: Volume 2,hit theaters. The action-thriller movie is a hit, and 20 years later, some are stillwaiting forKill Bill 3. However, it’s unlikely that a third entry will be added to the franchise, according to Tarantino.

Tarantino, who helmed Kill Bill, sat down with Bill Maher for theClub Random Podcast. The pair talked about several movies and the filmmaker said the animated movieToy Story 3was great and for him, it was the best culmination for the series. But two more films came after it. “Toy Story, the third one, is just magnificent. It’s one of the best movies I’ve ever seen and if you’ve seen the other two, then it’s just devastating,” he said. He added that after three or more years, Disney released a fourth movie, and Tarantino had no desire to see it because, for him, the third installment was the best ending, and movie makers should end the story as perfectly as they could. He added aboutToy Story 4, “I don’t care if it’s good. I’m done. It can still be good, but I’m done.” Maher asked,“So this is why there’s noKill Bill 3?” Tarantino laughed and subtly confirmed it. “Yeah,” before adding, “I did. I killed Bill.”

It wasn’t the first time Tarantino denied the possibility ofKill Bill 3. Last year, there wererumors that he was working on the movie.Kill Billfans speculated that Uma Thurman would return for another movie and reunite with her daughter Maya Hawke in the film. However, the director shut down rumors that he was working on the third installment of the martial arts film. “I don’t see that. My last film is about a film critic, a male critic. And he plays in the 70s,” he toldDeMorgen.Thurman also talked aboutKill Bill: Volume 3when she appeared onThe Jess Cagle Showin 2022. She confirmed that they had discussions about it and considered making a third film, but it happened a long time ago, so there was nothing new to share.

It’s understandable why fans want to see more ofKill Billbecause Tarantino did a great job in the first two movies. The visual techniques, dialogue and action sequences were so convincing that viewers could not get enough of them. Also, there were unfinished storylines that could open for a potential sequel. For instance, Vernita Green’s daughter witnessed how The Bride killed her mom and it could set up a great revenge storyline for the next film. Additionally, theKill Billseries has become a cult classic that fans are nostalgic about, and they want to revisit The Bride’s world. A third movie would make this possible while seeing fresh details about their favorite character.

However, Tarantino was also right that there was no plot to look forward to inKill Bill 3because Bill was already dead. Beatrix Kiddo, aka The Bride (Thurman), reunited with Bill (David Carradine) in the second film, where they talked about their falling out. She explained that she left the Deadly Vipers when she learned she was pregnant because she wanted to give their daughter a better life. He ordered her assassination when he learned she was alive and was engaged to another man he thought was the father of their child, B.B. They fought, and she struck him with the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique, killing him in the process. With Bill already dead,Kill Bill 3makes no sense anymore.
