Refunds for digital and physical copies were being issued to all players soon after the shutdown announcement was made, and only three days were left for those who wanted to enjoy the game and earn a Platinum trophy before servers went offline. Some fans also kept their copy ofConcordor bought one to preserve its legacy.
Reddit user _Canary_2002recently received a PS5 copy ofConcordfor free from Walmart after a strange series of events, beginning withthe announcement ofConcord’sshutdown on September 3. One day after making their online purchase ofConcordfrom Walmart, the user received a notice that their order was delayed in shipping by two days. Sometime after this delay, Walmart canceled _Canary_2002’s order and sent the user a refund, but theConcordPS5 copy was still shipped to their home. The Reddit user posted their story on theConcordsubreddit, asking other users if they’ve experienced a similar situation with purchasing a copy of the game from Walmart or other retailers.
PS5 Gamer Gets a Free Copy of Concord After Walmart Cancels Their Order
Some gamers in theConcordsubreddit, including Reddit user AndruloX, received a freecopy from Walmart through a near identical order process. Others were not as lucky when purchasing a copy from GameStop or Best Buy, since orders from these retailers were fulfilled without any trouble. The community also pointed out the high pricing forscalped physical copies ofConcordon eBay, as it’s only a matter of time before availability for retail copies dries up completely.
It’s worth noting thatConcordis still unplayable with a physical copy, since the servers are offline and the game does not have an offline single player component.PlayStation and Firewalk Studios are exploring options forConcord, which means that the game could return in the future. In addition,Concordwill be adapted into an episode of Amazon’sSecret Levelseries, so fans still have some content to look forward to.
