PlayStation brought a new premium iteration of the DualSense in 2023 called the DualSense Edge, which caters to gamers wanting mappable and more precise controls in a variety of games. In recent months, PlayStation continued to introduce more DualSense controllers to the market, including the limited-editionConcordandAstro BotDualSense controllers released on August 23 and September 6 respectively.

As spotted byIGN, Sony raised the price of all PS5 DualSense controllers by $5, with standard color models in White, Starlight Blue, Galactic Purple, Cosmic Red, Midnight Black, and Gray Camouflage now costing $74.99 each instead of $69.99. Moreover, the more expensive Cobalt Blue, Sterling Silver, and Volcanic Red DualSense controllers also saw a price increase by $5, bringing the price up to $79.99 from the former $74.99 price point. PlayStation fans may see the price increase for themselves at PlayStation’s own Direct store, and retailers like Best Buy and Target have already updated their own DualSense controller listings to reflect the new price. The prices of PS5 consoles, console covers,the DualSense Edge controller, and other accessories remain unaffected thus far.

Sony Increases PS5 DualSense Controller Price

The price increase appears to be rolling out worldwide, including the UK and Australia. In the UK, prices of DualSense controllers saw an increase of £5, which is roughly $6.54. DualSense controllers in Australia received a price increase of 10 Australian dollars, equating to roughly $6.66. Fortunately,DualSense controllers regularly go on sale, so players wanting to add one to their collection can hold out for the holidays and save some money.

The DualSense price increase comes just moments after Sony announced its9-minute PS5 technical presentation will be held on September 10. The presentation, hosted by PS5 lead architect Mark Cerny, will focus on the console and “innovation in gaming technology.” A potential PS5 Pro announcement could be imminent, if rumors and speculation pointing toward its reveal in September hold true. It’s unclear whether Sony will publicly address the DualSense’s more expensive pricing this week as well, however.
