Reddit user andPokemon GOplayer Rhys2468 shared their story with the game’s subreddit. Rhys2468 says that they recently got into an argument with their girlfriend, and went outside without their phone to try and cool down. In the heat of the moment, the girlfriend apparently took the phone and submitted a request to delete the account. The girlfriend went through with it, sending back the code that support needed todelete thePokemon GOaccount. By the time the OP got home, the account was gone, and the girlfriend was apologetic. Rhys2468 has been attempting to retrieve their account since, but hasn’t been able to get any help from official channels.

To make matters worse for this player, they were far from a newbie. Rhys2468 has been playing since the start in 2016, and says they had over 150 Shiny Pokemon, costumed Pokemon, 30 Hundos, and had spent a lot ofreal world money onPokemon GO. Losing all of their progress and their favorite Pokemon would be hard to deal with for any big fan of the game.
As one might expect, thePokemon GOcommunity hasn’t been happy hearing about this. A few have offered tangible advice for the player, suggesting that if they can’t get a response from official support channels, they should try reaching out toNiantic via social media, as that sometimes gets the attention of a person rather than getting an automated response. Many more, however, offered unsolicited advice with regards to the relationship. Most seem to see this encounter as something worth breaking up over, or at the bare minimum, see it as something that indicates there’s tremendous problems that need working on.
Rhys2468 hasn’t reported back to the post since making it, leaving fans wondering if they were able to get their account back. With any luck, they’re able to get a response so that theirPokemon GOaccount can be salvaged, even if the relationship can’t.
