Pokemon GOis adding Shiny Galarian Legendary birds to the game, and players may be pleased to know that there’s an element working in their favor to catch them. While this doesn’t guarantee that everyPokemon GOplayer will be able to grab a Shiny Galarian Zapdos, Moltres, or Articuno, it may help to boost the odds, especially for those that prepare well.
As of this writing, the Shiny Galarian Legendary birds are not yet in the game, and will be added starting on October 4. Finding Shiny Galarian variants of the trio of Legendaries will work very similarly to finding their non-Shiny versions, as players will need touse their Daily Incensefor a chance of them appearing on the map. However, there’s one difference between catching the Shiny and non-Shiny versions of these birds.
According to LeekDuck, Niantic has confirmed that Shiny Galarian Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos will not run away after a player has encountered them. This will give players all the time they need to determine a strategy and to actually attempt their throws. However, this does not guarantee that encountering a Shiny will automatically mean the player is able to catch it. The catch rate on these birds will remain low, so players should be prepared to use theirstrongest Poke Ballsand any helpful berries they have available to them to increase their odds.
What Else to Expect of the Shiny Galarian Legendary Bird Trio
Catching the standard version of thethree Galarian Legendary birdscan be tough due to their low catch rate and high chance of fleeing a battle. As such, this difference may mean that players who lack a Master Ball will have a better chance of catching a Shiny than a standard version, as they will be able to go so far as use all the Poke Balls available to them if they so choose. Additionally, players don’t need to worry about hurrying to find them, as after they’re introduced during the Galarian Expedition event, the trio will remain a possible spawn any time a player uses their Daily Incense.
Of course, getting them to appear in the first place may still be difficult. While players can’t do much about that except to keep trying every day,Pokemon GOis adding a new Masterwork Research that will reward players with a Master Ball, among other things. The research will cost $7.99 USD and can be completed anytime. Many players recommendusing a Master Ballto catch the Legendary birds, though if encountering a Shiny, players may want to try any Ultra Balls they have first just in case, since Master Balls are exceedingly rare in the mobile game.
