APokemonfan has recently redesigned the entire Squirtle evolutionary line, devising alternative forms for Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise. While fan art that reimagines popular creatures is not uncommon in thePokemoncommunity, this artist’s work stands out due to the unique take they had on the iconic turtle-inspired critter.
Squirtle is a Water-type monster that first appeared inPokemon Red and Blueand soon became one of the most beloved creatures of its generation. Together with Charmander and Bulbasaur, Squirtle is one ofthe Gen 1 starter Pokemon, and it’s an excellent pick for players, performing well against the Rock-type foes in the games’ first gym in Pewter City. At Level 16, Squirtle can evolve into Wartortle, which can then become the powerful Blastoise at Level 36.
Now, aPokemonfan called necrovvi has shared an amazing artwork in which they drew new forms for Squirtle and its evolutions. In the first design, Squirtle looks considerably more shy than its official counterpart, hiding inside its turtle shell. The second design turns Wartortle into aMega Man-inspired blue turtle monster, showing the first machine-inspired traits of the new form. Finally, the new take on Blastoise is an interesting depiction, as it imagines some kind of huge monster that mixes Wartortle’s ears and its iconic shell, but also some robotic parts. The artist also shared shiny versions of each monster, which had dark blue and yellow colors.
Pokemon Fan Shares Incredible New Designs for Squirtle’s Evolutionary Line
This Squirtle evolutionary line fan art is the third work shared by necrovvi in the last few days. The artist has recently sharedredesigns for Charmander and its evolutions, for example, giving a more draconic appearance to the popular Fire-type critter, which becomes an immense red and green dragon with a flaming tail in its last form.
Similarly, necrovvi alsogave Bulbasaur and its evolutions a new appearancerecently. In this artwork, the fan artist transformed Bulbasaur into a small, cute monster that evolves into biped Plant-type creatures that resemble dinosaurs.
A few weeks ago, anotherPokemonfan also shareda new Mega Evolution for Blastoise. By going back to Wartortle’s design, the fan created a new form for Blastoise that ditched its iconic cannons and instead focused on regaining some of the characteristics of its previous form, such as big ears and a massive tail. Hopefully, other talented artists will continue to design artworks inspired by beloved creatures such as the Gen 1 starters in the future, as these pieces are often cherished by the community.
