Summary
APokemonfan has recently designed a new regional variant for Hoothoot, which takes its inspiration from snowy places. Regional variants were first introduced toPokemonin the seventh generation of the franchise, and 54 creatures have gained official variants since then, including some critters with multiple forms.
Inspired by real-life owls, Hoothoot is a Normal/Flying-type creature fromthe second generation ofPokemongames. The cute little bird can normally be found during the night, and it evolves into Noctowl starting at Level 20. Despite their type, Hoothoot and Noctowl stand out due to having several Psychic-type attacks at high levels, such as Hypnosis, and Dream Eater.
Now, aPokemonfan called qobrosii shared their latest creation with the community: a regional variant for Hoothoot inspired by a cold, snowy place. The new design is pretty simple, but really well done, turning the owl Pokemon into a white bird with plumes, small feet, and a face with marks that resemble blue glasses. According to its creator, this new kind of Hoothoot would live in a much colder region of thePokemonworld than the ones explored in the games, and the new critter would always be alert at night. Qobrosii’s design was pretty well-received by the community, who gave it over 2,900 upvotes.
Pokemon Fan’s Regional Variant of Hoothoot
Due to its cute appearance, Hoothoot is a popular monster in thePokemonfranchise, and some other fans have also designed fan art imagining new forms of the little owl. A few months ago, for example, a fan createda future Paradox form for Hoothoot. In this case, the creature was reimagined as an Electric/Flying-type monster that looked like a machine and could project holograms.
Soon afterPokemon Scarlet and Violetwere released, another fan made anincredible steel-type Paradox form for Hoothoot. In this interesting design, the bird was drawn as a golden metal sphere with a cream-colored belly, big eyes, small legs, and feet, as well as a fancy hat.
It’s fair to say that regional variants continue to be one of the most popular design trends in thePokemoncommunity. For instance, one fan shared aregional variant of Oddish and its evolutionslast month. In this new evolutionary line, the Grass-type monster is reimagined as a group of Dark/Grass-type critters that had an appearance inspired by the Japanese Yakuza as it’s depicted in media, with Gloom being a low-level grunt and its last form being a Yakuza boss.
