Known respectively as the Wild Bull and the Milk Cow Pokemon, Tauros and Miltank appeared in the first two generations ofPokemongames. Both Tauros and Miltank are the first bovine-inspiredPokemonin the series, and both are classified as Normal-type critters. InPokemon Red and Blue, Tauros could only be found in Fuchsia City’s Safari Zone, while Miltank would not appear untilPokemon Gold and Silver. In the Johto region, a Miltank used bythe Normal-type Gym Leader, Whitney, was the bane of unprepared novice trainers. InPokemon Scarlet and Violet, Tauros received a regional variant that changed it to a Fighting-type bull Pokemon.
While Tauros and Miltank are notthe most-used Normal Pokemon in competitive battles, that has not stoppedPokemonfans from creating art dedicated to them. A Reddit user named w00dsmen shared an idea on the r/pokemon subreddit of what a shared pre-evolution for Tauros and Miltank could look like. w00dsmen created a pair of calf Pokemon known as “Calfby” that had cream-colored bodies with black spots, heart-shaped snouts, and small white horns. The female form of Calfby was given an additional heart-shaped spot on its ear, had a smooth tail tuft, and bore a docile expression on its face. By contrast, the male Calfby had an angry expression on its ears and face, and the tip of its tail was ruffled. The male Calfby also stood on all fours and assumed an aggressive battle stance.
Pokemon Fan Creates Pre-Evolutions of Tauros and Miltank
Known for other pieces ofPokemonfan art, such asa haunting Parasect evolution, w00dsmen stated in their post that the male and female forms of Calfby would evolve into a Kantonian Tauros and a Miltank at level 25. Although no further evolution requirements were necessary, Calfby’s moves and abilities were also not stated. In response, somePokemonfans thanked w00dsmen for their handiwork. When asked about what would cause a male Calfby to evolve into a Paldean Tauros instead of the Kantonian stock, w00dsmen responded that it would be a random chance, but did not elaborate further.
Although Tauros and Miltank have appeared in multiplePokemongames, the latter has not received an additional form since its Gen 2 introduction. WithPokemon Legends: Z-Alaunching in 2025, only time will tell if Tauros orMiltank will get a new form.
